Northrop Grumman Space Systems - Launch and Missile Defense Systems Sector has an exciting career opportunity for a Sr. Principal Systems Engineer - Architect to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals, serving as the Ground-based Midcourse Defense (GMD) Weapon Systems (GWS) GMD Fire Control (GFC) Architect located on-site in Huntsville, AL.
Position Overview:
The selected Sr. Principal Systems Engineer Architect (GFC Architect) is responsible for the overall technical leadership for the GFC command and control to include:

• The engagement planner software product, technical vision development, communication of the technical vision to internal and external stakeholders, leadership of the GFC lead technical engineering team, communication, technical collaboration and schedule related intricacies with internal and external customer.
• Regular interaction and support to the direct MDA GFC customer, troubleshooting, collaboration and issue resolution with the GFC SMEs on technical issues, support and consultation to the GFC Product Manager on technical topics.

Essential Functions:

• Develop, maintain, integrate, and communicate the GFC roadmap to ensure contractual and program milestones are aligned and executable; includes leadership and solicitation with GFC Software Subject Matter Experts (SMEs).
• Coordinates, presents, and solves technical issues and dependencies for the GFC product with the GFC SMEs, Engineers, and MDA customer.
• Establishes a working relationship with MDA GFC customer, to include briefing technical issues and solutions and active listening to customer technical recommendations and concerns.
• Overall technical integrity, quality, and adherence to requirements and software standards for the integrated GFC product.
• Coordinating dependencies, technical implementation timelines, as well as integration touch points for GFC feature and capability development.
• Leadership and mentorship of the technical leaders on the GFC team, to include: lead software engineer, lead cyber engineer, lead Systems Engineer, and lead test engineer.
• Communicating, orchestrating dependencies, and collaborating on the integrated technical approach, on behalf of GFC, with the GWS release management team and the GWS chief engineer.
• Develops technical solutions and supports the GFC PM in communicating recommendations to GFC technical issues. Provides consultation to the GFC PM for technical and integration related issues and areas of concern.
• Works with GFC SMEs to develop and communicate a consolidated technical vision and technical architectural plan to implement GFC capabilities that meets technical requirements and program schedules.
• Supports the GFC PM in establishment, orchestration, and implementation of Agile DevSecOps principles of Continuous Development, Continuous Integration, Continuous Improvement, and Continuous Learning.

Basic Qualifications:

• 9 years of experience with a BS/STEM degree; 7 years of experience with a Masters degree; 4 years of experience with a PhD.
• Active Department of Defense (DoD) Secret Security Clearance
• Technical leadership and development experience with Missile Defense systems
• Demonstrated ability to manage efforts in an Agile and DevSecOps process model.
• Experience with customer and stakeholder relationship management
• Presentation/briefing development experience.
• Ability to lead product team with organization and execution of tasks that acknowledges technical constraints, software integration considerations, and external system interfaces / dependencies.
• Problem solving skills of technical, integration, customer relationship, and cross IPT issues.
• Demonstrate a commitment to ethics and integrity, and the capability to innovate while challenging traditional ways of doing business.
• Strong interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with teams and stakeholders to include excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Experience and understanding of Engineering Processes and Procedures to include Systems Engineering and Software development.
• Broad skill set that is balanced between interpersonal, software systems integration, and technical capabilities.

Preferred Qualifications:

• MDA and /or GMD domain knowledge or direct GMD Fire Control (GFC) experience / knowledge.
• Experience in leading and working on an Agile cross functional software development team, to include familiarity with the software development process and software integrations.
• Strong knowledge of the Missile Defense System (MDS) and its elements and the integration intricacies across elements.
• Proven experience showcasing technical leadership, strong technical communication skills, and converging on solutions with input from numerous stakeholders.
• Experience in leading and acting in a key role on an agile software development team.
• Demonstrate a track record as an effective collaborator, communicator and problem solver who can develop and maintain good working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
• Demonstrate an ability to operate in a team environment and collaborate across the organization as required to accomplish the team goals.
• Demonstrate an ability to innovate technical solutions, programmatic solutions, and integration solutions and follow up on innovations in an executable manner.

Salary Range: $117,900.00 - $176,900.00
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
