Summary
We are currently seeking a passionate, skilled, service minded, and full-time Sr. PCB Designer to design analog, digital, RF, and mixed-signal designs from 2 to 8+ layer designs in Altium. Although primarily a PCB design position, the job also includes responsibilities not traditionally part of a PCB designer’s job description including: schematic and PCB librarian functions (symbol and footprint creation and checking), light 3D mechanical design and librarian functions in Solidworks and Onshape, Configuration Management tasks such as BOM creation, supplier management, and Engineering Change Orders. Job Responsibilities
- Design PCBs that meet product feature, mechanical, electrical, manufacturing, and regulatory requirements
- Perform component placement, routing, design rule verification, and related work on new and existing printed circuit board (PCB) designs.
- Generate PCB fabrication and assembly drawings, ensuring that all requirements for manufacturing and assembly are met.
- Work closely with engineering teams consisting of electrical, mechanical, manufacturing, regulatory, and project management roles.
- Help define CA Engineering’s CAD design standards and practices and design PCBs to comply with them.
- Work closely with the hardware engineering team and be responsive to design changes and feedback.
- Job emphasis is on PCB design skills plus the ability to learn and be versatile.
- Assist ecad library in generating symbols, footprints, and 3D components from manufacture’s data sheets, paying close attention to consistency, detail, and defined specifications.
- Work full-time on site in our Draper, UT office.
Minimum Qualifications
- 5+ years of PCB design layout experience
- Bachelors degree or relevant Associate degree or commensurate experience
- Competent skills and experience with Altium Designer and related equipment is required
- Experience with RF design preferred
- Full understanding of PCB layout techniques and processes within the context of meeting mechanical, electrical, and manufacturing requirements.
- Know how to design complex and multilayer PCB designs then create fabrication drawings and assembly drawings.
- Practical knowledge of industry standards such as IPC standards for design and ASME/ANSI for documentation is desired.
- Must be flexible with change requests and supportive of all team members. Be solution minded with your ego checked at the door.
- Work with PCB suppliers for front end design questions such as stack ups and design reqs and tek support during board fabrication.
- Electrical, mechanical, and artistic intuition to successfully visualize the “big picture” of the work
- Demonstrated versatility, ability, and ownership to successfully and spontaneously go outside the normally defined job responsibilities to add value to the company
