Job Summary
Seeking a Principal Mechanical and Thermal Engineer to support the growth of our data centers as a thermal subject matter expert. Locations in Milptias or Austin TX.
What a typical day looks like:
- Will work with supply chain to help to evolve our liquid cooling capacity
- This individual will have an opportunity to work cross functionally internal with other Flex technical teams.
- Work with Customer to develop thermal architectures
- Work with internal teams on developing customer solutions related to thermal cooling
- Qualification of design builds.
- Oversee projects as a technical subject matter expect with liquid cooling in data centers.
The experience we are looking to add to our team:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field, preferably thermal or mechanical engineering in cloud compute and AI
- 10+ years of experience working as a Mechanical Engineer with emphasis on thermal cooling
- 4+ years of direct industry experience in a thermal design and/or analysis role
- Specifically seeking experience in liquid cooling and/or two-phase cooling
- Proficient in design via 3D CAD software
- Expert in advanced modeling and analysis, e.g. via CFD and/or other computational methods, e.g. Ansys primarily for liquid cooling
- Strong understanding of fundamentals of fluid mechanics, heat transfer, and thermodynamics
- Strong organizational skills while also being able to operate in an ambiguous startup environment
- Hands-on experience in thermal testing and data analysis
- Strong understanding of engineering principles and practices
- Knowledge of Additive Manufacturing processes and materials (specific to fluids used in liquid cooling loops)
- You must have a growth mindset, exhibit extreme accountability, and be self-motivated to succeed in this role
- Product Management experience in the thermal management space
- Direct experience in direct to chip, Immersion cooling and/or air cooling thermal management systems
- May require travel (domestic and/or international) dependent on business needs, up to 20%
