The Sr. Manager, Equipment role is essential to oversee the maintenance, repair, and acquisition of company equipment, ensuring operational excellence across our construction projects in the Solar market. This position reports to the Senior Director of Project Management, or another management personnel that the division/department lead may designate. This employment opportunity is eligible for remote work; however, Hybrid or Onsite work may be required for candidates residing within a commutable distance to any of our corporate offices and working hours are Monday through Friday, from 8:00am to 5:00pm or 9:00am to 6:00pm local time. This position is expected to travel up to 10%.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTION & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide comprehensive support to construction operations to maximize equipment use and minimize costs.
- Manage the rental equipment pool, including contract negotiations and cost analysis.
- Perform inbound equipment receiving and inspection on new assets.
- Collaborate with operating departments to review equipment rates, adjusting based on utilization data.
- Implement and oversee a preventative and predictive maintenance program, monitoring repair expenses and adherence to budgets.
- Maintain an up-to-date list of company equipment, overseeing utilization and scheduling replacements.
- In collaboration with the Associate Director of Fleet and Equipment, recommend actions for the purchase, sale, or repair of equipment.
- Lead the implementation of safety programs, participate in accident reviews, and ensure fleet compliance with regulations.
- Deliver utilization and financial reports to senior leadership, including month-end summaries.
- Address urgent equipment needs of the construction operations.
- Directly coordinate with suppliers and vendors to facilitate the fulfillment of equipment needs for the construction projects.
- Perform setup of new vendors and suppliers.
- Responsible for creating new SKUs and asset numbers within equipment management software.
- Participate as a contributing stakeholder in the development of new processes and technologies to increase productivity and efficiency within the fleet and equipment management lifecycle.
- Team Leadership and Cross-functional Collaboration: Train and mentor new and existing team members on best practices in fleet and equipment management and maintenance
- Work closely with project equipment coordinators, commercial management, and risk management to provide necessary reporting and support.
- Address and resolve any invoicing or billing discrepancies in partnership with vendors and various internal stakeholders.
- Advise in proactive asset management, including disposal and acquisition, to align with project requirements and department budget constraints.
- Promote and lead by example to maintain the highest standards of safety and quality.
- Regular attendance, in accordance with company's attendance policy and supervisory assignment, is an essential job duty requirement for this position.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in fleet or equipment management, with a strong preference for experience in the solar or related industries.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Office, and Outlook. Experience with database systems and fleet and equipment management software.
- Exceptional organizational, negotiation, and communication skills.
- Capability to interact with leadership cross-culturally, both within and outside the organization
- Have a strong desire to continuously improve and push limits.
- Strong team player with a high degree of professionalism in which one conducts self at all times.
- Valid driver’s license with a good driving record.
- Willingness to travel as required.
