Description/Job Summary

Summary:

The Sr. Manager, Compensation is responsible for the overall planning, implementation, and management of the compensation programs globally. This role will be responsible for demonstrating thought leadership on the development of compensation methodologies and approaches, leading the implementation of new projects and initiatives, and supporting the service delivery of compensation on a global basis.


  • We offer a competitive salary with a range of $127,000-$153,500 based on experience and skill set.
  • This position is eligible to participate in the Signode annual bonus program with a target of 15% of base salary.
  • A variety of benefits are also available, including medical, dental, life insurance, short-term and long-term disability, as well as Signode's 401(k) program.

Essential functions:

  • Provide strategic and operational leadership in the design, development, implementation, administration, and communication of compensation, including a strategy that is consistent with the organization's culture and objectives. Develop recommendations and proposals for leadership's consideration regarding the same. Lead change management efforts as needed.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of existing programs, policies and guidelines and ensure they are market competitive, cost effective, and aligned with organization's strategy and goals.
  • Design and implement all employee compensation processes, including annual merit increases and internal promotions, short term incentive programs, market pricing processes, internal equity analysis and ad hoc compensation processes as needed.
  • Oversee development and maintenance of job descriptions and position classifications.
  • Oversees the ongoing maintenance of HRIS data to support timely and accurate payroll processing and benefit plan administration. Works with other HR and IT leaders to develop, monitor and refine processes to facilitate the smooth flow of data to encompass external in-bound and out-bound files and EDFs with necessary vendors, ensuring security and compliance requirements.
  • Work in partnership with external vendors and consultants in the areas of compensation.
  • Oversee preparation of the annual budget, periodic forecasts, and allocations.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations impacting compensation, and related areas, including pay equity laws, FLSA, and relevant IRS regulations, just to name a few. Consult with legal counsel as needed.
  • Develop and execute a comprehensive communication strategy for compensation and benefit programs to improve employee awareness and understanding of the organization's offerings and to improve employee engagement.
  • Engage as needed with HR partners or individual employees to answer questions or resolve issues.
  • Collaborate and consult with HR Business Partners and Recruiting on offers, promotions, transfers, and develop policies and guidelines to support the organizations continued growth.
  • Special projects and additional duties as assigned.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in human resources, Labor Relations, Business, or related field required. Master's degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 to 7 years of experience in, and extensive knowledge of compensation, required.
  • 5+ years of relevant experience in compensation (including Executive compensation), bonus structures, equity programs, etc. Experience with Mercer consulting, including working knowledge of salary surveys and job architecture required.
  • Demonstrated HR leadership with a minimum of 5 years of experience in managing and developing high-performing teams.
  • SPHR, SHRM-CP, and/or CECP preferred.
  • Ability to interact effectively with all levels of personnel in a positive and professional manner with of strong client-service focus.
  • Ability to derive insights from complex data and to present clearly in writing and orally complex data and concepts to promote understanding.
  • Ability to exercise independent judgment and initiative while also working collaboratively with others in a team environment.
  • Ability to assimilate information quickly and to grasp big picture concepts as well as details; demonstrated business and financial acumen to translate the needs of core business functions into solutions.
  • Flexibility to respond quickly and positively to shifting demands and opportunities; ability to work under tight deadlines and handle multiple, detailed tasks.
  • Ability to anticipate problems and issues and exercise good judgment in recommending resolutions.
  • Demonstrated project management and process improvement skills.
  • Knowledge of relevant laws and regulations impacting compensation, including but not limited to, FLSA, and IRS regulations.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to produce quality work product required.
  • Experience in a manufacturing organization preferred.
  • Proficiency in MS Office is required. Advanced proficiency with Excel preferred.
