We are looking for an experienced and motivated individual to fill the position of Geophysicist in our US Onshore Resources & Carbon Management (ORCM), Geophysics team based in Houston, Texas. You will work within a team focused on supporting appraisal and development activities in and around the Permian Basin.
Responsibilities include:
The successful candidate will apply geophysical technologies and interpretation skills as part of an integrated multi-disciplinary team responsible for exploitation and development activities in and around the Permian Basin. In particular, the candidate must communicate and work effectively within an interdisciplinary reservoir management team to evaluate development opportunities technically and commercially. The candidate should have a desire to creatively apply technology and workflows to reservoir characterization and development planning.
Qualifications:
Qualifications - Required Qualifications:
  • Interpretation-oriented geophysicist with a Master or PhD in Geoscience with a minimum of 8 years relevant experience OR Bachelor's Degree in Geoscience with 10+ years of relevant Geoscience experience.
  • Seismic interpretation experience utilizing seismic interpretation software to create synthetic seismograms, produce structural/stratigraphic maps and frameworks, and to integrate seismic interpretations with geologic and engineering data to construct geocellular reservoir models.
  • Experience in the identification and utilization of seismic attributes for stratigraphic interpretation and fault characterization.
  • Experience in Quantitative Interpretation methods including geostatistics, seismic inversion, and rock physics tools to produce predictive maps and volumes of rock properties from seismic data at field and regional scales.
  • A fundamental understanding of seismic acquisition and processing and its impact on data confidence and the interpretation process.
  • Experience with supporting corporate reserves documentation.
  • Experience supporting petroleum economics analysis based upon geotechnical mapping and characterization.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities with the ability to make technically and economically sound recommendations with incomplete information.
  • Excellent time management skills with the ability to manage multiple assignments concurrently and meet critical deadlines.
  • Must be a team player with strong interpersonal skills with experience working in a multi-disciplinary team environment.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to present work product in an effective manner; possess the ability to share information to develop others.
  • Creative thinker with a desire to challenge the status quo and conventional thinking with the ability to implement new ideas, processes, and technologies.

Additional Desired Qualifications:
  • Onshore Unconventional Reservoir experience
  • Permian Basin experience
  • Experience using Landmark DecisionSpace and/or Petrel software as well as DrillingInfo and I.H.S databases.
  • Experience in well planning and drilling operations
  • Familiarity with geomechanical principles and induced seismicity research
