Provides senior level financial reporting and analysis for the division and/or university.
- Responsible for the ongoing financial analysis of a major and very complex business area. Analyzes financial data and data trends using Data Warehouse, PeopleSoft queries, and the Student Dashboard.
- Coordinates with executive management to develop, interpret and implement highly complex financial/accounting concepts and techniques for financial planning and control.
- Oversees the preparation and analysis of financial statements. Prepares weekly, monthly and annual customized reports for various institutional units.
- Reviews data entry performed and creates, implements and maintains monthly checklists on the units within the division. Follows up with CBAs/DBAs as necessary. Archives data for Internal Audit reviews.
- Assists with the planning, coordination and execution of policy implementation applicable to the installation of improved financial operations.
- Acts as a subject matter expert on financial policies, procedures and applications.
- Provides specialized technical support to CBAs/DBAs within colleges and departments as needed.
- Researches and resolves highly complex customer issues as needed.
- Provides functional and technical direction to lower level staff members. May assist in the hiring, training and evaluation of lower level analysts and student workers. Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

1. Monthly Cost Center Verifications
b. Run financial reports and verify data to ensure financial statements, bank reconciliations, scholarships, fees, payroll, Accounts Payable,
P /T card transactions, and other accounting related activities posted correctly and are within the University’s financial and accounting guidelines and policies.
c. Notify appropriate department staff of any identified errors and coordinate necessary corrections, including correction journals and payroll reallocations, ensuring timely resolution, and confirming completion.
2. Accurate Data Reporting and Timely Recording of Financial Entries
a. Produce consistently accurate data, financial reports, and timely information for the Business Office use.
b. Prepares and initiates journal entries to record fees, accounts receivables, program payments, and other entries, ensuring related University and College deadlines are met.
c. Budget reallocation entries and annual commitment tracking
d. Assist with end of fiscal year financial activities.
3. Assist in Budget Administration
a. This includes compiling financial information supporting budget allocations, such as personnel salary and benefits cost projections, utilities costs, projected sales and services, fees, gifts, etc. Monitor actual and projected expenditures against the budget, tracking overhead expenses like building maintenance, administrative costs, parking, copiers, technology fees, postage, and utility vehicles.
5. Other Financial Team Duties
a. Provides guidance and support to department staff involved in general accounting activities.
b. Performs other related duties and functions as part of the financial team for special or priority projects as assigned.
The ideal candidate for this position should possess the following:
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, or related field.
- Proven experience in financial analysis, reconciliations, and budgeting.
- Proficiency in MS Excel.
- Experience with PeopleSoft Finance and HR.
- Experience with Hyperion Planning
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to multitask and work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

Requires a thorough understanding of both theoretical and practical aspects of an analytical, technical or professional discipline; or the basic knowledge of more than one professional discipline.
