Our major client is seeking a Financial/Accounting Analyst IV to work within their facilities located in Houston, TX for a 12 months assignment.
Description:
- The analyst position in the Derivative Accounting & Reporting group manages the accounting responsibilities related to unrealized and realized gas and power derivative contracts. This role requires the ability to work independently and interacts on a regular basis with Commercial front office and external counterparties. This role also requires the analyst to take initiative to quickly and accurately resolve issues related to fair value measurement of physical contracts, and resolve discrepancies with third party settlements. Additionally, the role is required to meet the deadlines and demands of the monthly closing schedule.
Primary Job Responsibilities:
- Fair value accounting of unrealized derivatives contracts
- Settlement of realized Gas and Power financial derivative contracts
- Settlement of realized Gas and Power physical contracts
- Perform account reconciliations for various GL account balances in accordance with company reconciliation guidelines
- Provide technical accounting support
- Maintain SOX documentation
Basic/Required Qualifications:
- Bachelors Degree in Accounting or Finance required
- Legally authorized to work in the United States on a regular, full-time basis without restrictions
- 3+ Years of direct experience in accounting and reporting
Qualifications:
- Certified Public Accountant
- Strong analytical abilities and a conceptual understanding of Commercial trading business
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and the application of these principles
- Experience working with SAP and Triple Point trading system (or other trading systems)
- Energy company and commodity transacting experience
- Ability to work in a fast paced, multi-task, changing environment
