The Opportunity
Everyday Health Consumer is looking for a Senior Editor with a passion for health and wellness to oversee our content updating process. Ensuring our content is accurate and contains the latest medical research and evidence-based health best practices is core to our mission to empower and inspire people to live their healthiest lives every day.
The applicant should have strong project management skills to shepherd content through workflows with medical reviewers, writers, SEO, etc. We seek somebody able to lead a team of freelancer writers and editors to respond quickly to health and consumer trends. The goal will be to strategically update health articles and product reviews with fact-checked, medically-reviewed information that serves consumers with trusted health content.
The ideal candidate has demonstrated digital storytelling and editing skills, as well as a familiarity with evolving SEO best practices. This specific individual should be a thorough, independent editor with the ability to prioritize and excel in a deadline-driven environment. This person will analyze content metrics to optimize and update health content as well as health product reviews.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the Content Updates process across EH, helping to establish processes and making adjustments as needed
- Use data to drive decisions and prioritization, including reports from tools such as
- Google Analytics, Google Search Console, Google Trends, SEMRush and Exploding Topics
- React quickly to health news/trends to ensure all content is updated strategically
- Determine how and what needs to be updated in the content, using medical research, keyword research, competitive analysis, and other tools and write content briefs for updaters to implement
- Recruit team of freelance content specialists with experience covering consumer health content
- Ensure content adheres to Everyday Health style guidelines and editorial standards
- Work with Everyday Health Marketplace Team to ensure marketplace content contains updated and relevant product guidance
- Manage editorial workflow (AirTable experience preferred) through publication, including working with the Marketing team, SEO, photo/design, medical review, copy edit, and production
- Top editing and review of updates as needed
About You
- 7+ years of digital editing, including experience with an online Health, Wellness, News and/or Lifestyle brand
- Strong background in consumer health content, including educational and e-commerce content
- Strong organizational ability, good verbal and written communication skills, attention to detail, and the capacity to work effectively under pressure
- Ability to lead large projects and handle multiple projects at once under tight deadlines
- Strong editorial judgment
- Familiarity with project management software (AirTable preferred)
- Demonstrated experience editing in a fast-paced environment
- Experience recruiting and managing freelance writers
- Understanding of SEO best practices and editorial standards, and dexterity in adapting to dynamic guidelines in these areas
- Experience working in a CMS
- Bachelor's degree required, preferably in Journalism, Communications, English, Marketing or related field

Compensation for this business unit specific role is based on a variety of factors including experience, scope of the role, capabilities to perform the role, as well as business & company performance.
