Sr Director Technology Business Operations& Program Management
Programmable DNA, the software of Life, is finally here! Twist Bioscience is developing a disruptive Synthetic DNA technology that will change the world, enabling widespread health and sustainability. Synthetic biologists will use our products to engineer how organisms produce cures to diseases, make everyday chemicals by using the atmosphere as the carbon source, enable plants to make their own fertilizers, and to create in-vivo diagnostics that alert us when we are sick, and many more applications.
As the Sr. Director of IT Business Operations & Program Management at a fast-growing technology company, you'll be a strategic thinker and operational doer who will focus on proactively improving all areas of IT processes and tracking key IT metrics across all functions. You'll report to the CIO, play an important role in senior IT leadership, and work as a cooperative partner across all functional departments of the firm.
What You'll Be Doing:
- Program Management: Track cross-functional technology projects with goals ranging from assessing progress, achieving goals, motivating individuals to achieve their goals, and escalating issues early.
- IT Business Processes: Formalize and standardize IT processes for effective operations and drive continuous improvements to make the teams more productive and processes more efficient.
- Financial Strategy and Planning: Develop and implement comprehensive IT financial strategies aligned with the organization's overall goals and objectives. Collaborate with senior management to build and manage IT budgets, ensuring alignment with business priorities.
- Monitor and analyze IT KPIs and trends, identify cost-saving opportunities, and recommend actions to optimize spend without compromising service quality. Establish cost and value benchmarks and performance indicators to measure the effectiveness of initiatives and operations.
- Financial Reporting and Analysis: Generate and present periodic financial reports to senior management, highlighting key financial metrics, budget adherence, and cost-saving accomplishments. Conduct financial analyses to support decision-making, forecasting, and resource allocation.
- Expense Management: Oversee the end-to-end IT cost control process, including telecom expenses, cloud services, software licensing, hardware purchases, and vendor contracts.
- Vendor Management and Negotiation: Manage relationships with IT vendors in partnership with IT functional leaders, negotiate contracts, and ensure the best terms, conditions, and pricing. Regularly assess vendor performance and contract compliance to ensure maximum value from service agreements.
- IT Asset Management: Lead the IT asset management process, including hardware and software inventories, tracking, and disposal. Implement asset lifecycle management practices to ensure optimal utilization of IT resources and minimize wastage.
- Compliance and Governance: Ensure compliance with regulations, company policies, and audit requirements related to IT & SOX processes.
What You'll Bring to the Team:
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Technology or a related field or equivalent experience
- Minimum of 8-10 years of experience in IT Business Applications, PMO or IT Business & Finance Operations.
- Proven experience in IT Program Management, Budget and Spend Management at a mid-sized organizations.
- Leadership experience, with a track record of leading and developing high-performing teams.
- Strong knowledge of IT procurement processes, vendor management, and contract negotiation.
- Familiarity with IT asset management principles and best practices.
- Demonstrated ability to analyze financial data, identify patterns, and make data-driven decisions.
- Excellent communication, both written and verbal, and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex financial information to non-financial stakeholders.
- Proficiency in analysis tools like Tableau, ERP systems, Gsuite and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent planning and organizational skills, Strong staffing, development, appraisal skills, and ability to be an effective member of project teams.
