Overview

Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America (PhRMA) is seeking a Senior Director for its Public AffairsBrand Team. They will be responsible for the day-to-day management of Public Affairs’ paid media campaigns, with a particular focus on digital and social channels. The Senior Director works across all departments to lead media planning, digital strategy, and performance and environmental reporting in support of all of PhRMA’s issue priorities. Additionally, this role works with PhRMA management to increase executive presence, promote major events, and expand work through new and existing online channels.

The Senior Director will:

  • Oversee paid media planning and buying across channels, outlets and platforms to achieve PhRMA’s advocacy objectives;
  • Work with Public Affairs colleagues to identify social and digital promotion ideas (organic and paid) to ensure that PhRMA’s point of view is both visible and persuasive in the current social conversation;
  • Develop and execute strategic paid media campaigns across multiple PhRMA issue priorities;
  • Lead and manage all aspects of campaign configuration, launch, and ongoing optimization – including media planning, data-based optimization, budget/billing management, and ad trafficking;
  • Proactively identify optimization opportunities, including continuous testing of ad copy and landing pages, including A/B testing and review/analyze results;
  • Manage campaigns and ensure they’re meeting defined objectives;
  • Lead the development of meaningful analytics and reporting to monitor and show progress against organizational goals;
  • Maintain knowledge of the digital landscape and evolving paid media trends, consulting Public Affairs colleagues on the best channels, tactics and digital-first content to persuade target audiences;
  • Manage consultant relationships to support digital paid media programs;
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Professional Experience / Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferably in Communications, Advertising/Marketing, Public Relations, Journalism or related field;
  • Minimum of 8+ years of relevant professional experience within corporate, government, public relations/marketing/advertising agency, or advocacy organization;
  • Experience working within platforms including Google AdWords, Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager, Bing Ads, Facebook Business Manager, Instagram Ads, LinkedIn Ads, Twitter/X ads;
  • Deep knowledge and passion for technology, digital marketing and innovation;
  • Expertise in past and current digital marketing and technology trends;
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple issues, projects, tasks and information/requests;
  • Proven organizational and project management skills;
  • Experience managing consultants and direct reports; and
  • Collaborative team player who also can work independently and be a self‐starter, take initiative, and set priorities.

Potential Salary

$137,000 - $182,210 per annum. Salary is commensurate with experience and other compensable factors.
