Sr. Devops Engineer

Overview:
The Sr DevOps Engineer will be passionate about technology and driving results. The candidate should be very knowledgeable and seasoned in all facets of configuration, build, deploy and release of software, within a distributed environment. S/he will be team oriented with a desire to achieve excellence. S/he will possess extreme attention to detail, a high level of accountability and responsibility, and proven ability to execute and deliver.
To ensure success, the candidate needs a good working knowledge of Microsoft's Azure Devops Environment, working knowledge of Azure Cloud tech, and an understanding of scripting (bash, powershell). Candidate will also need a good working knowledge of Bicep or similar IAC tech.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Define, support and champion the configuration/build/release management strategy and best practices for the team for all ongoing deliverables.
• Recommend technologies to facilitate DevOps best practices.
• Participate in the deployment of software including the monthly deployments typically scheduled for 2am on the 3rd Thursday and other deployments as needed.
• Good communicator. Ability to collaborate and drive consistency of delivery across cross-functional teams.

Environment Management:

• Managing the software that hosts the systems to which we deploy databases and internally developed applications
• Perform predictive and as-needed maintenance
• Plan and implement installations/upgrades
• Document software and virtual hardware of hosts and make this information available to the organization
• Maintain blueprints of hosts and their data/application interactions by environment

Configuration Control:

• Implement and maintain the change process for databases and applications such that reporting can be conveniently provided to identify requested modifications and enhancements
• Train users on proper submission/tracking of change requests
• Manage and configure the tools used to monitor changes to source code for databases and applications
• Train users on proper use of available tools to apply changes to source code
• Configure necessary security to allow proper separation of duties as outlined by team roles and responsibilities

Build / Deployment Management:

• Manage the process and tools used for builds and deployments to Development, Quality Assurance, Staging, and Production environments
• Configure required security for implementation
• Implement naming conventions for releases and updates to databases and applications

Experience:

• BS Degree in Computer Science or other related technical discipline.
• 5+ years direct work experience implementing SCM processes and tools in a web-based and client-server environment.
• Solid working knowledge and Azure DevOps Services.
• A Solid Understanding of DevOps best practice principles.
• Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field of study or commensurate work experience
• Working knowledge of Azure
• Working knowledge of Azure Devops
• Working knowledge of Powershell
• Working knowledge of Bicep/Terraform/or similar IAC tooling
• Good working knowledge of email systems and Microsoft Office software
• Familiarity with source control systems (e.g. Git, Azure DevOps)
• Familiarity with one or more development environments (e.g. Visual Studio, Visual Studio Code)
• Basic Knowledge of coding languages including C#, HTML, and JavaScript
• Basic knowledge of programming practices and procedures
• Basic knowledge of databases (Microsoft SQL Server) and operating systems (Windows)

Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to type and look at a computer screen for long periods of the day. The employee must be able to sit for long periods of time.
