Position Overview
We are currently seeking a Health Equity Sr. Business Intelligence Analyst to support our system-wide health equity programs. These programs are part of an organizational wide initiative to position NorthShore - Edward-Elmhurst Health as a leader in addressing healthcare inequities within patient populations and as critical healthcare partner to community organizations whose work are aligned with the goals of improving equitable health outcomes. Our work includes, but is not limited to, initiatives from our System Quality Collaboratives, Office of Health Equity and Community Health Engagement, and Corporate Measurement Systems. This role will be focused on leveraging data analytics to develop system-wide equity measurement systems, developing reporting to support quality improvement projects, and generating data insights using clinical and community data to support organizational strategies for addressing health inequities.
While this role is part of a broader team of cross functional leaders across clinical and operational areas devoted to our health equity mission, they will be part of the Clinical Analytics team reporting to the Senior Project Manager- Clinical Analytics. The Clinical Analytics team's important and growing role is to provide "Clinical Business Intelligence" to NorthShore, with a special focus on Quality and clinical standardization. We develop and implement methodologies to identify unwanted practice variation, support quality improvement workflows, and evaluate the effectiveness of interventions. We work closely with Enterprise Data Warehouse, Finance, Quality and clinical leadership teams, and have opportunities to use and develop novel informatics technologies, including predictive models, learning systems and natural language processing tools. Clinical Analytics team is responsible for many influential publications and conference presentations. This is a full-time, benefits eligible position.
Responsibilities
In this role, you will:
- Serve as a liaison between clinical experts, business leaders, and IT professionals to determine feasibility, timelines, and costs of quality improvement projects
- Gather business requirements by conducting meetings/interviews, and facilitating large group/cross-functional sessions with customers, while containing the scope of the initiative
- Produce datasets, reports, and visualizations that will facilitate evidence-based clinical, strategic, and financial decisions
- Work with statisticians and mathematicians to design predictive models using statistical and machine learning methods that will predict patient outcomes
- Work with clinical experts to analyze data that will help drive decisions on patient centered interventions and NorthShore's quality goals and performance
- Work with IT and data warehouse experts to design and develop new summary tables and data marts in NorthShore's Enterprise Data Warehouse
- Work with health equity IT team members to design and improve equity-focused measurement systems that incorporates clinical, community, financial, and human resources data
- Present data analyses and conclusions to multidisciplinary teams in engaging and digestible terms
- Conduct quality assurance testing on outputs to ensure usability of analyses
- Follow data governance and change management processes and principles

Our ideal candidate will have:
- Strong intellectual curiosity
- 4 year college degree in information systems, computer science, mathematics, finance, statistics, or related field
- 4 years of experience with data warehousing, Business Intelligence, programming, or statistics experience
- Demonstrated proficiency writing complex SQL, PL/SQL, stored procedures, or other database experience.
- Experience and understanding of data sources including 3rd party RDBMS, MS access, SQL server and oracle
- Strong analytic, problem solving, negotiation, issue resolution and facilitation skills are required
- Demonstrated strong written and verbal communication and decision making skills
- Demonstrated ability to manage workload and multiple priorities
- Passion for and experience with health equity or community outreach initiatives a plus
- Experience with Tableau and/or similar data visualization tools and processes is a plus
- Experience working in an Agile environment or as part of a scrum team is a plus
- Statistical or mathematical skills or experience working with statistics packages (SPSS, SAS, R etc) is a plus
- Master's level degree or above in a related field is a plus
- Experience in leading projects that span cross-functional teams is a plus
- Familiarity with healthcare industry or healthcare information systems is a plus.
