We are seeking an experienced AWS Data Engineer to join our Moody’s Ratings Data Engineering team and play a crucial role in designing, building, and maintaining our cloud-based data infrastructure. The successful candidate will work closely with cross-functional teams to develop scalable and efficient data pipelines, enabling seamless data ingestion, transformation, and processing.
Responsibilities:
- Design and implement scalable, fault-tolerant data pipelines on AWS using services like AWS Glue, Kinesis, Lambda, and EMR.
- Develop and optimize efficient data processing workflows using Python and SQL.
- Build and maintain ETL/ELT processes for structured and unstructured data sources.
- Collaborate with data scientists and analysts to understand data requirements and provide optimized data solutions.
- Ensure data quality, integrity, and security across various stages of the data pipeline.
- Implement best practices for data governance, monitoring, and automation.
- Troubleshoot and resolve data pipeline issues, optimizing performance and reliability.
Mandatory Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related field
- 8-10 years of hands-on experience in Data Engineering roles
- Proficient in Python and SQL for data manipulation and processing
- Solid understanding of AWS data services (e.g., Glue, Kinesis, Athena, Redshift, S3, EMR)
- Experience with data modeling and database design (e.g., SQL, NoSQL)
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
- Familiarity with data governance and data quality practices
Preferred Qualifications:
- AWS certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Data Analytics – Specialty)
- Experience with big data technologies (e.g., Apache Spark, Hadoop)
- Knowledge of data streaming and real-time data processing
- Familiarity with CI/CD practices and DevOps tools (e.g., Git, Jenkins)
- Understanding of machine learning and AI concepts
For US-based roles only: the anticipated hiring base salary range for this position is $112,000.00 – $162,550.00, depending on factors such as experience, education, level, skills, and location. This range is based on a full-time position. In addition to base salary, this role is eligible for incentive compensation. Moody’s also offers a competitive benefits package, including not but limited to medical, dental, vision, parental leave, paid time off, a 401(k) plan with employee and company contribution opportunities, life, disability, and accident insurance, a discounted employee stock purchase plan, and tuition reimbursement.
