UNITE HERE HEALTH is seeking a Sr. Analytics Engineering Developer to provide advanced technical development, analysis, and project management support to existing and new processes within the Analytics Engineering area of the Analytics department.

PURPOSE

The purpose of this position is to provide advanced technical development, analysis, and project management support to existing and new processes within the Analytics Engineering area of the Analytics department. In addition to analyzing and improving database structures and automating new procedures, this position will maintain and update the Fund’s medical reporting systems and all supporting process flows, such as accurate identification of covered lives, providers, and service and diagnosis categorization.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES

  • Designs, develops, and fully tests applications and reports using tools such as MS SQL, MS PRB, SSIS, DAX Studio, Power Automate, and Power BI
  • Maintains, updates, and ensures accuracy of the data operations within the CDW and reporting/analytic layer used by Analytics leveraging support from Data Quality as needed
  • Supports all inbound and outbound data loads that are aligned with the Analytics team (e.g., Medical Claims ingestion, Lab Data ingestion, Milliman input/output, IINT input/output, IPro input/portal, Mt Sinai outbound data, ad hoc claims extracts etc.)
  • Performs at a high level of programming skills, with strong aptitude for reviewing, auditing, and analyzing data
  • Develops and maintains upstream data quality assurance process to check data accuracy and completeness before loading to any applications leveraging support from Data Quality as needed
  • Independently able to retrieve and interpret product or regulation specifications such as grouper input requirements, data requests, or federal transparency regulations
  • Develops and maintains an in-depth understanding of:
    1. common healthcare utilization and cost metrics, including HEDIS
    2. Available fund data and how it is standardized and used in production reporting
    3. the overall effects of changes to database design, table structures and calculated metrics
  • Maintains documentation of all development activity and reviews code development
  • Sets goals and achieve measurable results

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS

Years of Experience and Knowledge

  • 10+ years of experience with hands-on development and SQL Server stored procedures
  • 7+ years of experience in data analytics; healthcare and claims data analysis preferred
  • 3-5 years of experience with Power BI including dataset building, data flows, and metric development
  • Knowledgeable of best practices for relational databases and schemas
  • Working knowledge and experience in industry coding (revenue codes, ICD 9 & 10 classifications, CPT codes, etc.)
  • Knowledge of claims processing and the various fields submitted with a claim such as Universal Medical Billing

Education, Licenses, and Certifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare, Informatics, Computer Science, Economics, or related field or equivalent work experience required
  • Master’s degree preferred

Skills and Abilities

  • Advanced level Microsoft Office skills (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook)
  • Advanced development skills with a variety of tools and platforms including MS SQL, MS PRB, SSIS, DAX Studio, and Power Automate
  • Intermediate Power BI development skills, or other report application development skills
  • Strong communication skills
  • Strong problem identification and solving ability
  • Ability to:
    1. Understand business need, define requirements, and program efficient applications
    2. Manage competing deadlines and multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
    3. Perform the essential functions of this job with or without reasonable accommodation
  • 5-10% travel

Salary range for this position: $91,100~$113,900. Actual base salary may vary based upon, but not limited to: relevant experience, qualifications, expertise, certifications, licenses, education or equivalent work experience, time in role, peer and market data, prior performance, business sector, and geographic location.

Work Schedule (may vary to meet business needs): Monday~Friday, 7.5 hours per day (37.5 hours per week) with potential for hybrid work-from-home arrangement.
