An SLPA is not allowed to practice independently and must be supervised by qualified staff. SLPAs may not be used to provide services to the caseload in the absence of qualified SLP.GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL TASKS: (These are intended only as illustrations of the various types of work performed.

The omission of specific duties does not exclude them from the position if the work is similar, related or a logical assignment to the position.)Assisting the speech-language pathologist with screening;Assisting the speech-language pathologist with copying, distributing, and filingspecial education forms, and contacting parents to set up meetings;Preparing materials;Assisting with transporting children to and from services (within the school); andMonitoring the child's performance, following the directions provided by the Speech Language pathologist and only after the speech-language pathologist has verified that the assistant can accurately gather the data. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Bachelor's Degree in speech-Language Pathology (preferred). Positive interpersonal and communication skills.
