Form of workSpecimen Distribution SpecialistGDIT is seeking a Specimen Distribution Specialist in support of the Naval Health Research Center (NHRC) Infectious Disease Field Surveillance and Laboratory Research Services. As the Navy hub for the Armed Forces Health Surveillance Center, the NHRC Operational Infectious Diseases Directorate conducts on-going, laboratory-based surveillance of US military populations in unique environments to quantify and study the etiology of infectious illnesses.HOW YOU WILL MAKE AN IMPACT:Facilitate shipment and receipt of test specimens to and from laboratory personnel at NHRC and other clinical test sites.Archive specimens from ongoing surveillance programs and special investigations among military personnel or civilians (recruits, forces afloat, deployed forces, outbreaks of concern, DoD dependents and border populations).Assist with providing sample handling, including check-in, aliquoting, and adding to a database.Assist with monitoring and tracking inventories of contractor owned/acquired tools, equipment, and supplies needed for effective surveillance, subject to final GS or military approval.Assist in supporting the logistics of receiving specimens for research including archiving and entering the samples into a lab database, subject to final GS or military approval. Receipt of specimens shall be completed by GS or military personnel.WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED:HS.
