JOB SUMMARY
The Elementary School Specialist will serve as a specialist in the areas of Health and Fitness. Effectively teaching skills and knowledge students need to achieve personal and academic success. This specialist will work to prepare students for 21st century.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required:
Valid Washington State teaching certificate with K-8 Elementary Education endorsement. For this position, a candidate would also be eligible if health/fitness is held.
Minimum three (3) years successful classroom teaching experience preferred.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS:
District/Building Administrators as appropriate.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Work Year: 180 days aligned with the academic school calendar, plus 1 Enrichment Day (February 20, 2024)
Paid Hours: 7.5 per day, including 30 minute lunch period
Time of Contract Hours: Work day starts 30 minutes before the student bell schedule and concludes 30 minutes after the student day ends at the work location, this position is located at Ptarmigan Ridge Elementary School.
Salary: 2023-24 OEA Salary Schedule A (Includes Base contract, Enrichment Days contract and Technology Stipend, at minimum)
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Experiences frequent interruptions. Required to meet inflexible deadlines Requires concentration to details Required to operate a motor vehicle on public roads Have precise controls of fingers and hand movements Focus on a computer screen for extended periods of time May deal with angry or distraught people Experience demands from a diversity of others, including students, parents, community and staff Required to attend evening/weekend meetings or activities Involves sitting, walking and standing

BENEFITS
Eligibility for benefits is determined by the number of hours an employee is anticipated to work during the school year (September 1 through August 31). Employees anticipated to work 630 hours or more in a year are eligible for the following benefits: medical, dental, vision, retirement, life insurance, long-term disability and the employee assistance program.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Teach, promote and support health enhancing behaviors to students across all elementary grade levels.
- Plan, implement and evaluate programs and services in cooperation with faculty and administration.
- Collaborate with teachers to develop activities aligned with Common Core Standards that promote student learning in all content areas.
- Assume responsibility for organization and maintenance of learning resource programs.
- Function as effective team member, both within the building and district wide.
- Create atmosphere conducive to the emotional, social and intellectual growth of young children.
- Maintain effective student discipline.
- Collaborate with para-educators, student assistants and volunteers that work in the school.
- Comply with all building, district, and state regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Continually upgrade instructional skills to remain current.
