Position Title:Teacher on Special Assignment (TOSA) CCTE Specialist
2023 - 2024 School Year
1.0 FTE
7hrs/day 8:15am - 3:45pm
This position will remain open until a qualified applicant is selected.
This is a Continuing Position.
Evergreen Public Schools (EPS) offers the following to eligible employees who work at least 630 hours in a school year:

Summary Statement:
The CCTE Specialist will work collaboratively with building and district administrators, student services personnel, and teachers to ensure the delivery of career development services and provide program support. The CCTE Specialist will facilitate connections with parents, business/industry, postsecondary institutions, and community organizations to prepare students for the transition to postsecondary education and employment.
Essential Functions:
  • Oversees district wide yearly course catalog development and forecasting process.
  • Works with HSBP vendor and building end users to ensure continuity of service to students.
  • Maintain understanding of compliance requirements for OSPI, Labor & Industries and other governmental agencies that partner with CCTE.
  • Work with teachers and post-secondary partners to create dual credit opportunities for students.
  • Collaborate with administrators, counselors and district student services staff to facilitate Graduation Pathways applications across our systems with particular oversight of the CTE graduation pathways.
  • Collaborate with community partners, CCTE teachers and district staff to identify industry recognized certificates, work-based learning and internship opportunities for students that align with their post-secondary plans.
  • Develops cultural competence and a commitment to equity in outcomes and opportunities for adults and students.
  • Leads for equity toward college and career readiness in the construction trades.
  • Nurtures a school environment that celebrates, respects and values diversity where teaching and learning are made relevant and meaningful to students from diverse cultures.
  • Focuses attention on equity gaps that exist for various groups of students with plans to address their elimination.
  • Initiates activities and discussions that lead to increased cultural competence of staff, informing and expanding teaching practices.
  • Promotes Washington state College Career Technical Education standards for administrators, teachers and students.
  • Applies comprehensive knowledge of developments and trends in CCTE and 21st Century learning.
  • Models creative and innovative use of technology in the classroom.
  • Evaluates and reflects upon profession practices, emerging technologies, and current research to support student learning.
  • Maintains confidentiality while building and maintaining a high level of trust with site-based personnel.
  • Maintains a positive relationship with students, staff, parents, and community by modeling respect, cooperation, and professionalism with others, recognizing the personal achievements and professional contributions of others and demonstrating knowledge of a sensitivity toward individuals and groups from all racial, ethnic/cultural, national and socio-economic backgrounds.

Minimum Requirements:
  • Valid Washington State CCTE teaching certificate and Career Guidance Specialist certificate.
  • Minimum 3-5 years' experience as a career guidance specialist.
  • Demonstrated successful teaching experience across diverse populations.
  • Experience initiating, nurturing and developing business and/or community partnerships.
  • Considerable knowledge of the current literature, trends, and developments in the field of CCTE.
  • Effective communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills for building an environment with a common instructional focus, promoting initiatives, and conveying expectations.
  • Outstanding presentation and facilitation skills.
  • Advanced ability to use technology as an effective means of communication, planning, and instructional tool.
