Position Summary
The Research and Data Specialist provides support for Parents as Teachers research and quality improvement initiatives. This includes: coordinating the evaluation of Show Me Strong Families the national center’s PAT affiliate, supporting national, state, and local research and evaluation projects, supporting analysis and dissemination of data, and identifying opportunities to enhance data collection, analysis, and dissemination.
Essential Functions
- Function #1: (30%) Design, develop, and conduct data collection using methods like literature review, focus groups, surveys, and interviews with key PAT stakeholders (e.g., affiliate organizations, PAT trainers, other PAT customers, state entities, families).
- Function #2: (20%) Clean, review, and analyze trends in quantitative and qualitative data.
- Function #3: (15%) Collaborate with stakeholders to define research objectives, design methodologies, develop data collection instruments, and plan research projects.
- Function #4:(15%) Assist with preparation of reports, presentations, fact sheets, data visuals, and other communication and dissemination products.
- Function #5: (15%) Coordinate and manage evaluation projects as assigned (e.g., integrating healthy eating and active living in the home, supporting prenatal and postpartum families, supporting families involved with Child Protective Services) working closely with an external evaluator and key community partners.

Education and Experience
- Master’s degree or equivalent in social work, health, psychology, or education.
- 1-3 years of experience in: project management; program evaluation/research design; collection, management and analysis of quantitative data; and survey development.
