Since 1980, Barrington Orthopedic Specialists' physicians have remained the premier orthopedic providers of the northwest Chicago suburbs, providing compassionate, individualized care for patients' bone, joint, and muscle injuries and conditions. Barrington Orthopedic Specialists Rehabilitation Department offers comprehensive outpatient orthopedic rehabilitation services, occupational therapy/Hand Therapy services, and several specialized wellness programs at all 4 of our facilities. Our Industrial Rehabilitation Program specializes in returning the injured worker back to the workplace and is located at our Schaumburg office.
POSITION SUMMARY:
Barrington Orthopedic Specialists is seeking a part-time Licensed Occupational Therapist (Hand Specialist). You will work closely with a team of skilled clinicians and orthopedic surgeons across numerous orthopedic sub-specialties. Seeking highly motivated, driven individuals with passion for the profession.
Occupational/Hand Therapy consists of post-injury or post-surgical management of elbow, wrist, and hand orthopedic musculoskeletal conditions carried out by a team of Occupational Therapists and certified hand therapists.
SUMMARY OF DUTIES:
The Occupational Therapist evaluates and treats functional impairment through the application of physical medicine and rehabilitation modalities, provides individualized goal directed treatment to promote movement, reduces pain, restores function, and prevents disability. The Occupational Therapist promotes independent maintenance of functional improvement through home exercise instruction and patient/family education. The Occupational Therapist provides protective or dynamic splinting to patients to enhance performance per physician orders. The Occupational Therapist appropriately delegates treatment tasks to clinical support staff. The Occupational Therapist is responsible for maintaining a thorough and accurate documentary record of any care provided in a manner consistent with the department's stated best practices for documentation. The Occupational Therapist is responsible for providing accurate billing and coding for any care provided in a manner consistent with the department's stated best practices for billing and coding.
HOURS:
Part-time -16-20 hours per week
Requirements
EXPERIENCE:
Two to three years of outpatient orthopedics preferred
EDUCATION:
Graduate of an accredited occupational therapy program
Must possess license as an Occupational Therapist where required by state law. Current certification in CPR.
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
- Provide quality care for patients receiving occupational therapy services according to national, state, and department standards of care.
- Demonstrate appropriate knowledge and competence of designated skills identified for this position.
- Complete all documentation to ensure the availability of accurate and current information.
- Completes appropriate financial management responsibilities.
- Deliver excellent customer service to internal and external customers; referring physicians, hospitals staff, insurance carriers, and patients.
- Interact with all patients, families, visitors and fellow employees in a mature, responsible manner to ensure a positive and professional environment.
- Adhere to HIPAA regulations and maintain patient confidentiality.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Willing to work flexible hours.
- Basic computer skills.
- Basic understanding of electronic health record and practice management systems.
- Basic understanding of medical office procedures.
