Job Title: Specialist, Manufacturing Engineer (4/10, 1st Shift, F35 Rugg) Job Code: SAS20230903-98222 Job Location: Palm Bay, FL Job Description: The applicant filling this position will lead manufacturing related activities on Avionics programs with a large focus on ruggedization (conformal coatings, staking, underfill, etc.). The type of hardware produced at this Harris location is often complex, containing cable assemblies, flex assemblies, circuit card assemblies (CCAs), and higher-level system assemblies. Essential Functions: Interfacing with design engineers to ensure hardware producibility and develop build strategies.
Planning and requesting manpower/equipment/process resources. Generating assembly documentation and directing support personnel in the day-to-day execution of the manufacturing tasks. Candidate will assist with manufacturing efforts with formal cost and schedule responsibilities and direct customer interface.
Support process improvement initiatives of technical and operational nature. Design and develop manufacturing and engineering tools, strategies, and systems to improve quality and throughput in conformal coating area. Plan and support the build and modification of electronics systems including procurement support, assembly method/work instructions generation, tooling design support, material/process development, facilities/equipment planning, and resolution of manufacturing, quality, and reliability issues.
Estimate manufacturing costs, determine time standards, and make recommendations for tooling and process requirements of new or existing product lines. Support the root cause and corrective action (RCCA) processes. Qualifications: Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Industrial Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Engineering Mechanics, Mechanical Engineering or related disciplines.
Bachelor's Degree and minimum 4 years of prior relevant experience or 2 years post-Secondary/ Associates Degree and a minimum of 8 years of prior related experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience 4 plus years' experience in a manufacturing or integration environment Preferred Additional Skills: Working knowledge and general understanding of IPC -6012, IPC-6013, IPC-A-600 and IPC 6018 Background in manufacturing of electronics for Military and Government Systems Experience with different conformal coatings used for CCA ruggedization Experience in Lean principles; mistake proofing, 3P, 5S+1, Value Stream Mapping (VSM), Root Cause Analysis, Cause & Effect, Gemba, Pull-Flow, etc Familiarity in Control or similar MRP based system and Aegis based Manufacturing Execution System Knows Aegis based Manufacturing Execution System (i.e. Fusion V7, FactoryLogix) Automated chemical dispensing process development Automated/Semi-automated torque tools process development Knowledge in AutoCAD and/or Pro-E, technical writing, MS Project and/or MS SharePoint.
