Position Summary
The Specialist, Career Services is responsible for supporting learners and graduates through a comprehensive Career Services program encompassing placement assistance (resume writing, cover letter writing, interviewing skills, and identifying job leads), collection and maintenance of placement data, employment verification, and development of Career focused activities each semester. The incumbent will engage with current learners and new alumni in the strategic efforts of the College and other areas related to career and alumni success.
Essential Function and Responsibilities:
- Coach and advise students on career planning, job seeking skills and industry trends to effectively prepare them to gain employment upon graduation.
- Refers employers, learners, and graduates to the college job board.
- Plan and execute career-focused events such as resume-writing seminars, career fairs, etc.
- Use learner employment surveys, attestations, and internet/social media searches to gather graduate employment data.
- Provides outreach to graduating alumni to verify post-graduate employment and offer assistance related to Career Services.
- Conduct 3rd party verification processes for verifying placements.
- Record placements in student information system and official tracking documents.
- Strong learner-centric focus; commitment to learner satisfaction and success.
- Creates a culture of trust and connectedness across the College community to promote well-being and success for learners and alumni.
Minimum Required Qualifications:
- Prior experience in higher education or career placement preferred.
- Effective word processing (MS Office experience desired), database management (Excel) and customer service skills required.
- Willingness to work evenings as required.
- Effectiveness in working independently or in teams, focusing on learner success, customer service in what can be a fast-paced environment.
All new hires are required to attend New Collaborator Orientation (NCO) in Salt Lake City, Utah. The College will pay for travel and lodging accommodations.
