Specialist, Small Molecule Analytical Research & Development

The Small Molecule Analytical Research and Development group has an opening for a Specialist based in Rahway, NJ. In your role as Specialist, you will be part of a team of Specialists working on cross-functional scientific teams to enable development of novel small molecule, peptide, and oligonucleotide drug development through laboratory-based analytical characterization of our raw materials including excipients and package components.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Support excipient and package component release testing for our Research & Development Division, including interfacing with contract laboratories, Development Quality, and Materials Management.

  • Document the execution, procedure, results, and conclusions of experiments in a detailed manner in compliance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Attributable, Legible, Contemporaneous, Original and Accurate (ALCOA) principles.

  • Author technical reports, analysis certificates, investigations/deviation records, and SOPs.

  • Work collaboratively with internal stakeholders and partners including Development Quality and Materials Management.

  • Troubleshoot and investigate any challenges associated with the GMP testing through active collaboration with cross-functional project teams and/or Quality stakeholders.

  • Engage and participate in various internal and external current Good Manufacturing Practice (cGMP) audits.

Education Minimum Requirements:

  • Advanced and relevant industry experience for applicants with a Bachelor of Science degree, or beginner, relevant industry experience for applicants with a Master of Science degree in Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or other Life Sciences.

Required Experience and Skills

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, as well as interpersonal skills, are necessary to qualify for this role. Candidates will also be required to work in a team environment with cross-functional interactions.

Preferred Experience and Skills

  • Though not required, the ideal applicant would have hands-on experience in GMP operations and raw material release, advanced chromatographic separation science, spectroscopy analysis, and other analytical techniques. In addition, experience with Empower, data science, and FTIR are also a plus.

U.S. Hybrid Work Model

Effective September 5, 2023, employees in office-based positions in the U.S. will be working a Hybrid work consisting of three total days on-site per week, generally Tuesday, Wednesday and either Monday or Thursday, although the specific days may vary by site or organization, with Friday designated as a remote-working day, unless business critical tasks require an on-site presence. This Hybrid work model does not apply to, and daily in-person attendance is required for, field-based positions; facility-based, manufacturing-based, or research-based positions where the work to be performed is located at a Company site; positions covered by a collective-bargaining agreement (unless the agreement provides for hybrid work); or any other position for which the Company has determined the job requirements cannot be reasonably met working remotely. Final determinations with respect to salary will take into account a number of factors, which may include, but not be limited to the primary work location and the chosen candidate’s relevant skills, experience, and education.

Expected salary range:

$91,600.00 - $144,100.00
