AddressNiagara Falls. Destination Niagara USA. Special events Manager, Old Falls Street. $20 - $28/hour. Reporting to the Director of Special Events, this position will be involved in all aspects of planning and executing outdoor events on Old Falls Street including marketing, event management and community outreach in the Special Events sector.
This is a year-round position with a concentration of events running May thru October but also focusing on developing new events and activities in the off-season.
Essential Duties: * Mange event details such as layout, setup, and equipment needs. * Serve as a liaison between event promoters and operations department. * Coordinate vendors for festivals, concerts and Special Events. * Serve as an on-site contact at events. * Book entertainment for daily events and activities. * Conduct market research to initiate internal discussions regarding new events. * Assist in developing and implementing event promotions. * Develop relationships with local businesses and community groups to further promote events. * Oversee daily activities including set up and post event reports. * Assist with street vending efforts and administration responsibilities including cash handling/placing food and beverage orders for events. * Communicate entertainment production needs and requirements with vendors. * Complete weekly reports and attend staff meetings as needed. * Manage part time event staff and alcohol permits and licenses. * Maintain familiarity with other events taking place throughout the Western New York region. * Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications and Requirements: * Minimum of one to two years' experience in event planning or the Special Events field. * Ability to work long hours with flexibility to work nights, weekends and holidays as needed. * Strong interpersonal, customer service, and communication skills. * Team player attitude, collaborative in style of work. * Competent in Microsoft Office suite application (Word, Excel) with an ability to learn other proprietary software as required. * Able to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a professional outlook.
Physical Demands: * Ability to stand for long periods of time. * Bending, heavy lifting (30 pounds), carrying, pushing, repetitive movements. * Perform all of the ergonomic requirements without significant risk of injury to oneself or others, or otherwise demonstrate or explain how one can perform essential functions listed above.
