Performance Responsibilities
- Creates positive and respectful relationships with students, staff, parents, administrators and professional agencies who work on behalf of the student.
- Conducts assessments, testing and diagnostic examinations of students for the purpose of identifying learning issues, and recommending courses of action or corrective procedures to overcome issues and maximize learning.
- Participates in case conferences and assists in developing Individual Educational Plans ("IEP") for students.
- Assists students and teaching staff in implementing students' IEPs and Behavior Intervention Plans.
- Provides consultation and collaboration with educators, students, parents and other stakeholders to promote effective implementation of services.
- Coordinates with outside agencies, organizations and institutions, including state and federal authorities as needed.
- Arranges case conferences with parents and educators to provide assessment results and determine Special Education eligibility.
- Develops, implements and monitors IEPs based on observation and data collection.
- Collects data on student progress toward goals and objectives and shares quarterly progress reports with parents and educators.
- Assists students in creating Transition Portfolios.
- Creates and implements daily lessons based on Indiana Academic Standards and Content Connectors.
- Coordinates with administrators and other teaching staff members to ascertain individual student's abilities and needs, including students with special needs, and to familiarize stakeholders with social work services.
- Provides services to students of all ages with a wide range of ability levels including mild and intense disabilities.
- Completes and maintains records as required by Federal IDEA, State Article 7 and corporation procedures including evaluations, reports and Medicaid reimbursement according to mandated timelines.
- Provides services consistent with ethical, legal and professional standards including code of ethics and Family Educational Rights and Privacy
Travel Requirements
- Travels to school district buildings and professional meetings as needed.
