Special Education Assistants at One Bright Ray Community High Schools serve as an integral part of the campus team. They work to assist students with various needs including behavioral needs and/or students with disabilities receiving Special Education services, provide support and assistance to help students access the instructional program in school and community settings, and maintain a safe educational environment for students.

The primary responsibilities of the OBRCHS Special Education Assistants are the following:
● Works with the Director of Educational Support and Educational Support Case Manager to support Special Education student(s) on a daily basis
● Provides 1:1 student support for those students who have it identified in their IEP.
● Pushes into all courses except one lunch period. Schedule based upon Educational Support Case Manager guidance
● Assists student(s) with various needs including behavioral needs and academic needs by using behavioral prompts and academic prompts to have students re-engage with their work when off task
● Provides a secure and quiet space for student(s) to be de-escalated in a designated location
● Provides support and assistance to help students access the instructional program in school and community settings
● Provides input to the Educational Support Case Manager throughout the school day and provides an update at the end of each school day
● Takes part in and provides input for student IEPs
● Takes part in faculty/staff meetings
● Advocates for alternative learning settings within the building if/when the general education setting becomes overwhelming for student(s)
● Communicates with teachers and staff for the purpose of assisting in evaluating progress and/or implementing IEP objectives
● Implements under the direction of the Educational Support Case Manager, instructional and behavioral programs and lesson plans for the purpose of presenting and/or reinforcing learning concepts
● Works 1:1 with student(s) on individual tasks related to IEP goals and objectives
● Works to implement student behavior plans on a consistent basis provided by Educational Case Manager
● Provides, under the supervision of assigned teacher, instruction to students in a variety of individual and
group activities (e.g. self esteem, behavioral skills, daily living skills, etc.) for the purpose of implementing goals for remediation of student deficiencies and ensuring student’s success.
● Perform other duties as assigned by administration
The OBRCHS Special Education Assistant is part of a collaborative educational support team of the One Bright Ray Inc. Accelerated School Model. All duties listed above will be supported by the organization’s leadership team, and Special Education Assistants are expected to make strong efforts to communicate and carry out the duties listed above and seek assistance when needed.

Pay: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour
