Position: Spanish Speaking Middle School Math Tutor - Queens NY
Job Description: We are seeking multiple bilingual Spanish-speaking tutors to join our team and work as in class support for 6th to 8th grade students at JHS 226, located at 121-10 Rockaway Blvd, South Ozone Park, NY 11420. The students will need to receive support in Middle School Math. Tutors will work in-person Monday through Friday from 8:10am to 1:40pm, with a 30 minute break provided during the day. The program is scheduled to start January 22, 2024 and run through May 6, 2024.
Qualifications:
- Must be able to speak fluent Spanish and English
- Previous experience as a Math Tutor in Middle School settings is preferred
- Willingness to work as a team and support both teachers and students
- Strong communication skills required to collaborate with teachers and students
- Available to work the hours specified above Monday through Friday at the school site
- Dedication to supporting academic and personal success, particularly among minority and low-income students.
- Passion for educational equity and social justice
Responsibilities:
As an Education Champion, you will work collaboratively with teachers and school leaders to provide the targeted support and interventions students need on any given day. You'll be assigned to small group instruction and one-on-one tutoring, focusing on areas such as Math, Reading, and Writing. Your role will be instrumental in ensuring students have the rigorous and culturally responsive educational support they deserve.
Compensation & Benefits:
- Competitive pay rate of $24/hr with the opportunity to earn $26.40/hr* with a completion bonus.
- Education Champions are not paid during school breaks (Winter Break, Spring Break, etc.).
- Education Champions will be required to attend one 30-minute event per quarter and complete 5 minutes of asynchronous training per week.
