Summary
Supervises and oversees the daily operational needs of the spa in support of appointments and services delivered. Major responsibilities include: scheduling staff, ordering supplies, inventory control, marketing and advertising. Assist the Spa Manager in the overall management of the day spa and service delivery as needed.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Responsible for monthly inventory of retail products.
- Responsible for efficient shift and break scheduling to ensure appropriate staffing levels according to business volumes; i.e. special events, holidays, weekends, groups, etc.
- Performs duties of staff positions as needed.
- Maintenance, cleanliness and safety of spa treatment areas and equipment.
- Ensure standards of appearance are adhered to by staff.
- Coordinate training calendar, schedule trainings/trainers, and conduct staff training.
- Assist with periodic revisions of the spa treatment menu.
- Attend monthly meetings with the VP of Hotel to discuss goals, budget, staff meetings, marketing, incentive programs, training, staff issues, needs and accomplishments.
- In conjunction with management, ensure all staff maintains current licenses and permits.
- Assist with maintaining proper and secure storage of products and linen.
- Maintain knowledge and understanding of: treatments, protocols, products, physiological effects, equipment, guest satisfaction issues related to treatments.
- Assists with the coordination and development, implementation and monitors short and long-term strategies designed to increase revenue, profitability, retail sales, guest satisfaction, staff satisfaction and staff retention rates.
- Displays a high level of maturity, discretion, tact, judgment and the ability to deal with confidential matters.
- Manage down-time activities to ensure staff is working productively at all times.
- Develops and maintains good working relationships with staff, management, community organizations and vendors.
- Promote the sales of additional spa services and retail in a positive and motivational way.
- Coach staff or provide training on effective selling techniques for retail and services.
- Highly motivated, energetic and quality oriented individual with demonstrated initiative for achievement with little direction.
- Excellent time management, communication, organizational and interpersonal skills.
- Self-motivated and highly organized and works to find and develop new business.
- Maintain a professional appearance reflective of the hotel image and conduct behavior in a mature and professional manner.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Directly supervises employees in the Spa Department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Qualifications

Education and/or Experience
Must have a minimum of one year experience managing a like facility. Must have working knowledge of MS Office Suite.
Age Requirement
Must be at least 21 years of age.
Language Skills
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
