The Microsoft U.S. Federal Consulting Solution Architect Team is seeking a Solution Architect - Data & AI who can help guide our mission-critical customers securely through their digital transformation. The role requires technical experience with advanced architecture skills and industry knowledge to define appropriate customer solutions, scope and estimate effort, and provide technical leadership in sales pursuits and solution delivery.

The Solution Architect- Data & AI role requires technical knowledge and the ability to architect solutions by mapping customer business problems to end-to-end technology solutions. The candidate will have demonstrated ability to engage in discussions with senior level decision makers related to agility, business value, and end to end information technology solutions. The role is a key enabler for other architects, consultants and partners, and will have a passion for the customer which is demonstrated through professionalism and striving for excellence in all aspects of the customer engagement and experience.

Responsibilities

TheSolution Architect - Data & AI role requires an individual who is resourceful, confident under pressure, and has demonstrated skill in both crisis management and expectation management. Ideal candidates may come from customer, partner and competing organizations and may have played the following types of roles in these organizations; Senior Architect, Chief Architect, Principal Architect or CTO.

The Solution Architect - Data & AI will have current experience across both On Premises and Cloud Microsoft infrastructure technologies and solutions. Knowledge and real-world experience in Enterprise deployments in cloud, on premise and hybrid environments is required. This role also requires assisting customers in architecting, planning and applying governance for large scale Enterprise Solutions as appropriate. Advanced Industry knowledge in either US Federal DOD and/or Intelligence is required.

Hands on experience and skill with the following is highly desired:

Demonstrated excellence with presenting complex development and product topics to both business executive and technical personnel.

Proven experience selling consulting engagements which includes estimating, scoping, and writing effective statements of work that clearly set expectations and limit risk.

Proven track record of building technical relationships with senior executives and helping to build innovative cloud solutions in large or highly strategic accounts.

Proven track record of driving decisions collaboratively, resolving conflicts and ensuring follow through with exceptional verbal and written communication.

Demonstrated excellence when facilitating customer design and awareness sessions that are focused on complex application Solution Architectures.

Ability to move between high level architectural review/design and the “roll up the sleeves” level of providing architectural oversight for delivery projects.

Ability to translate business requirements into technology requirements for inclusion in contracts and/or statements of work (SOW).

Proven success and expertise in architecting and deploying complex, innovative Enterprise solutions, in a client-facing role.

Extensive prior experience in Big Data, modern data warehouse, business intelligence, data ingestion & transformation (ETL/ELT), IOT, analytics model and data visualization Private/Hybrid/Public cloud configurations, migrations, patterns, and practices.

Azure subscription planning and network architecture
Scripting, automation, and infrastructure-as-code
Collaborating and communicating across program management, project management, and account management teams to drive a unified approach on customer priorities, requirements, constraints, approaches, principles, design concepts and expectations.

Jointly leading implementation and deployment with Project Managers to achieve desired outcomes while managing technical, business and engagement risk.

Generating new and/or improved intellectual property to help grow our catalog of solutions for customers
Sharing ideas, insights, and strategies with technical teams, internal communities across the field, and the larger virtual team across Microsoft.

Acting as a trusted advisor for our customers; understanding customer & partner technical environments, as well as key industry trends.

Qualifications

Required/Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field AND 8+ years experience in technology solutions, practice development, architecture, consulting, and/or technology domain (e.g., Security)
o OR Master's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field AND 6+ years experience in technology solutions, practice development, architecture, consulting, and/or technology domain (e.g., Security)
o OR equivalent experience.
  • 2+ years managing multiple projects or portfolios.
  • 1+ year(s) experience leading blended, multidisciplinary teams.
Other Requirements

The successful candidate must have an active U.S. Government Top Secret Clearance with access to Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) based on a Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) with Polygraph. Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. Failure to maintain or obtain the appropriate U.S. Government clearance and/or customer screening requirements may result in employment action up to and including termination.

Clearance Verification:
This position requires successful verification of the stated security clearance to meet federal government customer requirements. You will be asked to provide clearance verification information prior to an offer of employment.

Microsoft Cloud Background Check:
This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

US Citizenship:
Citizenship & Citizenship Verification: This position requires verification of U.S citizenship due to citizenship-based legal restrictions. Specifically, this position supports United States federal, state, and/or local United States government agency customers and is subject to certain citizenship-based restrictions where required or permitted by applicable law. To meet this legal requirement, citizenship will be verified via a valid passport, or other approved documents, or verified US government clearance.

Additional or Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field AND 12+ years experience in technology solutions, practice development, architecture, consulting, and/or technology domain (e.g., Security)


o OR Master's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field AND 8+ years experience in technology solutions, practice development, architecture, consulting, and/or technology domain (e.g., Security)

o OR equivalent experience.
  • 6+ years technical sales experience.
  • 6+ years project management experience.
  • 3+ years people management experience, including managing consultant practice managers, technical sales managers, and/or technical architect managers.
  • Technical or Professional Certification in Domain (e.g., Security).

Solution Architecture IC5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $115,500 - $205,000 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $148,000 - $222,000 per year.
