Solidworks Design Engineer

Job Title: SolidWorks Detailer

SUMMARY:

Under the direction of the drafting Manager, the responsibilities of the Detailer/Draftsman position include using SolidWorks software to produce shop drawings. Work hand in hand with dept. manager, shop fabricators, and customers on weldments from conception to production drawings of railings, fencing and miscellaneous metal fabrication products.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Read & interpret contract drawings, blue prints and specifications.

· Will be responsible to create shop drawings for all fabricated products.

· Will work closely with shop foreman and dept. manager to resolve any design issues.

· Work with other welder/fabricators to assist in the fabrication or welding of multi-component weldments.

· Read, understand, and follow job order specifications, engineering drawings, and/or work orders.

· Willingness to cross-train and perform the work of other job tasks in addition to the primary assigned position.

· Review shop drawings to ensure accuracy

· Create CAD/CAM ready files for machine use including waterjet, tube laser, mandrel bending & milling center.

· Perform field measurements to translate into shop drawings.

· Perform a variety of complicated tasks, as required.

SUPERVISORYRESPONSIBILITIES:

· There are no supervisory responsibilities associated with this position.

QUALIFICATIONS:

· Minimum of 2 years’ experience in SolidWorks, AutoCAD, CAD/CAM.

· Familiar with welding and fabrication concepts.

· Computer literate, including Microsoft Office.

· Rely on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.

· Good verbal and written skills, strong math skills.

· Must be able to multi-task between projects.

· Positive, willingness to learn and participate in a changing environment to reach a common goal.

· Strong willingness to find the most efficient way to produce production ready prints.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

· Associate or Bachelor Degree in Drafting/ CAD/ Graphics Design/ Architectural/ Structural / Civil / Mechanical Engineering, architecture, or equivalent is preferred.

· 2+ years in detailing with SolidWorks using weldments & drawings.

· Experience with steel fabrication and installation is preferred.

· Relevant detailing experience and knowledge in miscellaneous steel is preferred.

· Strong interpersonal and communication skills • Proficient with Microsoft Office products (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.)

· Ability to effectively function in a team environment.

· Tape Measurement and blueprint reading skills a must.
