Job Overview
This role is critical for improving the quality of GM products including reducing warranty and improving customer vehicle order delays by preventing defects through yard software updates and unknown vehicle impact due to yard activities. This role will help the vehicle plants integrate new software into their produced vehicles as seamlessly as possible. This role is defining the standards for the future of GM.
Responsibilities
- Provide support with regards to Manufacturing re-flash activities.
- Develop new standards to help ongoing activities and future projects.
- Create open communication between all stakeholders.
- Host and support cross-functional meetings to discuss details of reflash activities.
- Organize and track multi-location activities throughout North America to include: Personnel, Software timing, Expected completion date, Cost, Hardware tracking, Standard re-flash supplies, etc.
- Own, document and optimize the re-flash process to ensure delivery to high targets.
- Communicate efficiently and, in some cases, control the release of vehicle holds to allow shipment to the customer.
- Perform daily re-flash log audits to ensure process robustness and that vehicles are being delivered while meeting GM’s quality standards.
- Cross-collaborate with GM and non-GM resources to ensure efficiency throughout the entire re-flash process.
- Lead the Software Re-Flash Technical Specialist by providing clear expectations of software packages, hardware requirements and reflash timing
- Support Software Re-Flash Technical Specialist with issues requiring escalation
- Monitor all reflash activities to schedule team for support opportunities.
- Do empathy interviews with team member impacted to make sure all support needs are being met.
- Understand top issues manufacturing is experiencing and read across to future programs to drive early intervention.
- Monitor all reflash activities and provide feedback of results.
Be the VOICE of the Global Electrical Support Team (GEST)
- Speak up in meetings, ask questions, ensure full understanding of the project scope and expectations.
Be the expert
- Expertise in both Internal Combustion Engine (I.C.E) and Electric Vehicle architectures
- Expertise in GM vehicle safety standards
- Expertise in GM vehicle software development and deployment strategies
- Familiarity with all GM EOL test stations
GEST
- Provide monthly updates to GEST and Product leadership (BPD Level 1 Report out)
- Anything new:
- Top Issues
- Upcoming activities
- Schedule and completion dates
- Items needed
- Support needed
- Provide quartile updates to senior leadership
- Escalate any roadblocks to leadership
- Help set the strategy for electrical improvement for the GEST organization
Additional Description
Required Qualifications
- Associates Degree or higher in Automotive, Manufacturing, Electrical/Software or equivalent experience
- Minimum 2 years experience in the automotive field
- Demonstrated ability to lead projects and deliver results
- Thorough knowledge of software deployment strategies
Preferred Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years previous experience with automotive electrical sub-systems
- Minimum 1 year of Vehicle Spy experience
- Demonstrated understanding of automotive manufacturing processes
