Tesla is currently seeking a backend Web Developer to join the Digital Experience team and help build the next generation of web solutions for our customers and internal users as it relates to the vehicle configuration and ordering experience. You are highly motivated, detail-oriented, and not afraid to try new things. You will be part of a small but mighty web development team - so you must be a problem solver, a fast learner, and comfortable wearing many hats. You will be challenged to deliver features around quickly but thoughtfully, balancing speed to market with longevity and scalability, all in the name of extraordinary customer experiences.
- Build awesome web experiences using PHP
- Work with product managers, content producers, QA engineers and release engineers to own your solution from development to production
- Work with backend APIs to access data between services and applications
- Optimize applications for maximum scalability and performance
- Build in flexibility and customization from the start
- Internalize the user and promote good usability in every experience
- Be nimble and react quickly to changing business conditions
- Participate in agile and scrum best practices, continuous integration and delivery (CI-CD) in a fast-paced agile environment
- B.S. or higher studies in Computer Science (or equivalent experience)
- 3+ years building web applications with evidence of exceptional ability
- Strong backend skills in PHP 7 / 8 including OOO principles
- Experience integrating with RESTful services
- Solid understanding of fundamental design principles behind a scalable, secure
- and performant application
- Solid understanding of fundamental web technologies such as HTTP, REST, AJAX and JSON
- Experience with development tools such as Composer, Git, Docker, etc.
- Solid understanding of the software development lifecycle and familiarity with Agile development methodologies
- Excellent problem solving, troubleshooting and debugging skills
- Excellent organization, communication and interpersonal skills
- Excellent written and verbal English skills
- Experience with Node.js / Express is a plus
- Strong front-end skills (HTML/CSS/JS/React) is a plus
- Experience with SlimPHP framework is a plus
- Experience with PHPUnit is a plus
Compensation and Benefits
Along with competitive pay, as a full-time Tesla employee, you are eligible for the following benefits at day 1 of hire:
$104,000 - $348,000/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits
Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
