This is an ONSITE position in West Lafayette, Indiana.
The Software Developer I is responsible for building defined features, investigating and correcting bugs, as well as communicating progress and blocking issues. This position is focused on growth as a developer, learning tools, processes, and best practices such as testing, source control, project documentation, and planning.
- Employees are expected to adhere to all rules and regulations applicable to this position, including but not limited to all policies and procedures pertaining to the Bank Secrecy Act.
Duties andResponsibilities (Essential Functions):
- Work collaboratively with senior developers and business leaders to expand, enhance, and improve Purdue Federal Credit Unions capabilities.
- Receive mentorship and guidance from experienced developers.
- Design and implement timely, high quality software solutions.
- Create and maintain unit tests for all solutions.
- Drive change by taking ownership of tasks from beginning to end and employing creative solutions within various areas of the stack to reinforce better, faster technology.
- Provide technical expertise to support and troubleshoot the production environment in real-time.
- Create and maintain technical documentation for all code developed.
- Display a professional attitude in dealing with supervisors, coworkers, members, and others inside and outside the credit union.
Required Skills
Knowledge,Skill, and AbilityRequirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, information technology, and/or equivalent combination of education and experience
- 1 or more years of experience using the Python programming language
- Ability to communicate, verbally and in writing, in a professional manner when dealing with employees, members, vendors and company contacts
- Ability to follow the core values of honesty, integrity, mutual respect, pride and ownership
Desired Skills and Abilities:
- Experience with Linux servers
- Experience with HTML, Javascript, and CSS
- Experience using GitHub or equivalent for source control
- Experience creating and utilizing unit tests
- Knowledge of RESTful and SOAP web services
- Knowledge of Relational Databases and related tools including Microsoft SQL Server and Oracle preferred
- Excellent debugging and problem solving skills
- Prior banking or financial technology experience preferred
- Experience with Ruby preferred
