The Internet of Water Overview
In the United States, water data have been collected by hundreds of federal, state, and local agencies for decades, yet we are still unable to answer fundamental questions about our water systems in a timely way: How much water is there? What is its quality? How is it used? Because the data have been collected by different agencies, for different purposes, at different scales, and are scattered across multiple platforms with different standards, they are rarely used beyond their original purpose. The Internet of Water is a bold vision to improve water data infrastructure and fundamentally transform water management.
In 2021, Duke University has formed a partnership with the CGS to deliver services for the Internet of Water, including: (1) supporting the development, growth, and long-term operation and maintenance of essential IoW data discovery tools; (2) supporting engagement, outreach, and communication through the Internet of Water peer-to-peer network; and (3) advising and assisting in the development of the hubs; and (4) provide a limited set of monetized services.
Application Process
Please submit a cover letter and resume. The cover letter should succinctly describe your interest to join the CGS team; why you are qualified to join as Software Developer for the Internet of Water initiative; and what relevant expertise and experience you offer.
