Job Description:
The U.S. Forest Service (FS) seeks a Software Asset Management Analyst to support contractor support team in Asset Management, software license management, and mobile application management.
Duties/ Responsibilities
- Provide financial analytical consultation on current/future software.
- Evaluate usage levels, software licensing audit support and contracts for cost optimization recommendations.
- Conduct cost analysis, financial tracking, and review/evaluate ideas and opportunities for cost-savings and cost-avoidance.
- Prepare and present cost analysis briefings upon request.
- Provide support with continued licensing and maintenance of the software inventory.
- Support auditing of the software inventory, including development of analysis and status reports.
- Utilize ServiceNow or PowerBI dashboard reporting to identify software usage, software inventory, and associated software procurement costs.
- Provide training materials on dashboard usage and reporting and conduct training sessions as necessary.
- Provide weekly or ad hoc software status reports to the Program Manager which will include but not be limited to:
- Usage reports
- Inventory reports
- Budget reports
Required Skills
- Knowledge and experience with Software Asset Management, software licensing and license use rights
- Experience and knowledge of the software lifecycle from licensing to purchasing to deployment to decommissioning
- Demonstrate data analytics and critical thinking abilities
- Familiarity with being an end-user of PowerApps
- Experience with creating dashboards and reports, such as usage reports, inventory reports, and budget reports
- Ability to generate dashboards and reports using PowerBI
- Experience using ServiceNow Software Asset Management (SAM)
- Ability to work under minimal supervision or guidance
- Attention to detail
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Nice to Have Skills:
- Certification in TBM (Technology Business Management) is nice-to-have
- Background in enterprise software management is ideal but not required
Education and Experience:
- 7+ years of relevant experience
- Bachelor of Science in Business Analysis, Business Administration, IT, or any related field
Travel Requirement:

Salary:
- $90-100k The salary range offered is an estimate made in good faith, intended to encompass various experience levels.
