Social Worker

POSITION SUMMARY BROAD FUNCTION:
The Social Worker is responsible for providing a wide array of direct supports and strengths-based case management services to help customers address basic needs and to further progress away from poverty toward prosperity. The Social Worker works closely with Family Empowerment Partners to serve as the “front door” for all Community Action customers. Social Workers, work with children in the classroom and in groups, recruit, conduct intake, assess, and enroll customers in agency programs. Social Workers help customers meet basic needs and, focusing on Whole Family approaches, provide further support and encouragement for lower-income families through self-assessment, goal setting, and goal achievement.
PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Successfully provide direct supports to Community Action customers, including but not limited to: Providing strengths-based, trauma-informed customer intake, assessment, and case management.
- Utilizing Whole Family strategies to move families from poverty towards prosperity.
- Fostering participant engagement by building rapport with participants, facilitating periodic one-on-ones and group sessions, and maintaining high levels of customer satisfaction.
- Identifying and coordinating internal supports and external resources that promote family well-being. Make formal customer referrals when appropriate.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of participation requirements and eligibilities for all supports offered through Community Action.
- Maintain documentation of all customer interactions and services provided using agency-wide database and other funder required data systems. Maintain thorough, accurate, confidential case files within the agency wide data system.
- Maximize professional skills and talents. Regular attendance is an essential function of this position
- Adopt a continuous growth practice in interacting with technology products.
- Share unique skill sets or talents professionally as needed. For example, use of a second language, community resources, or case management knowledge.
- Demonstrate welcoming, supportive interactions with customers, new staff, peers, volunteers, and visiting professionals.
- Participate fully in individual and program wide professional development opportunities.
- Perform such other duties as may, from time to time, be assigned by the supervisor and/or the supervisor’s designee.
AUTHORITY AND ACCOUNTABILITY:
The Social Worker is delegated full authority necessary for the effective performance of all assigned duties and responsibilities subject to the restrictions, requirements, and terms of the agency’s policies and procedures, applicable local/state/federal laws, and the dictates of sound business judgment, prudence, and ethical conduct. The Social Worker is fully accountable to the Family Empowerment Coach and Early Childhood Director for their performance, which will be measured against the position description and established performance goals.

- Bachelor’s degree in Social Work.
- Masters Degree- preferred
This position requires the operation of either company owned or company-controlled motor vehicles and will be subject to the standards outlined by the corporate motor vehicle insurance policy.
