Summary
This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after complete review of the EDRP application.

Duties
This is a Temporary Promotion which may be extended, terminated or made permanent at any time dependent on the needs of the facility.
The Residential Rehabilitation Treatment Program (RRTP) is a 24-hour specialty program that provides a residential treatment level of care for Veterans who require structure and support related to mental illness, substance use disorders, homelessness and unemployment. The program utilizes an interdisciplinary team including a psychiatrist, advance practice nurse / physician assistant, Social Workers, vocational rehabilitation counselor, nurses, peer support specialist, psychologist and additional ancillary services. Veterans receiving care from the RRTP program traditionally have complex health care and psychosocial problems and needs, requiring a high degree of clinical oversight and creative problem solving.
  • Responds to consults for RRTP admissions.
  • Arranges referrals or services on behalf of the Veteran to ensure that necessary and timely clinical services are received.
  • Interviews Veterans to establish facts about the Veteran's situation, presenting problems and their causes, and the impact of such problems.
  • Coordinates day-to-day functions of the admissions process.
  • Assists the Program Manager in managing the RRTP program waitlist.
  • Serve as a point of contact with programmatic responsibilities for admissions related issues and assists RRTP Program Manager with incorporating VISN and national policies and guidelines into local policies and practices.
  • Develop and conduct mental health and substance use treatment groups.
  • Offers consultation to colleagues and students on the psychosocial treatment of patients treated in specialty areas.
  • Teach and mentor staff and students in the special area of practice and to provide supervision for licensure or specialty certifications.
  • Utilization of tele-health modalities may be required.

Qualifications
Basic Requirements:
Education: Candidates must have a master's degree in social work from a school of social work fully accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE) Graduates of schools of social work that are in candidacy status do not meet this requirement until the School of Social Work is fully accredited. A doctoral degree in social work may not be substituted for the master's degree in social work.
Licensure: Individuals assigned as Social WorkerProgram Coordinator must be licensed or certified at the advanced practice level, and must be able to provide supervision for licensure.
May qualify based on being covered by the Grandfathering Provision as described in the VA Qualification Standard for this occupation.
In addition to the basic requirements above, the following is required to be appointed at the GS-12 grade level:
Specialized Experience: One year of experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level. Experience must demonstrate possession of advanced practice skills and judgment, demonstrating progressively more professional competency. Candidate may have certification or other post-master's degree training from a nationally recognized professional organization or university that includes a defined curriculum/course of study and internship, or equivalent supervised professional experience. In addition to the experience above, candidates must demonstrate all of the following KSAs.
  • Knowledge of program coordination and administration which includes consultation, negotiation, and monitoring.
  • Knowledge and ability to write policies, procedures, and/or practice guidelines for the program.
  • Ability to supervise multidisciplinary staff assigned to the program.
  • Skill in organizing work, setting priorities, meeting multiple deadlines, and evaluating assigned program area(s).
  • Ability to provide training, orientation, and guidance with clinical practices.

Physical Requirements: The work is primarily sedentary. Physical demands do not exceed those of a typical office setting. There may be some walking, standing, twisting, turning, sitting, pushing, bending, repetitive keyboarding, or carrying of light items.
