The position of Social Worker (Foster Care & Adoption) will pay $66,560/annually. Additionally, the lifespan compensation range of this position is: $66,560/annually - $71,560/annually. 

 

Must have Covid-19 Vaccine and Booster.

 

Learn more about the Job:

The Foster Care/Adoption Social Worker has direct responsibility for an assigned caseload of children placed in CB resource families, usually with a plan of reunification with the birth family. Some children/NMD who are unable to reunify with birth family may be adopted by their foster family or prepared to transition to an adoptive family outside of CB. This responsibility includes but may not be limited to ongoing assessment/certification/approval of resource families, monitoring of the resource family, support for the birth family in their efforts to reunify including monitoring of family time and timely documentation related to each child/NMD and family. The position requires flexible work hours including availability for evening appointments at least 2 days a week.

Job Responsibilities:

Home Identification/Approval/Training

  • Facilitation of orientation, pre-approval, on-going training, and resource parent support groups may be required
  • Evaluate and assess a child/NMD for placement and continued placement, as well as place children/NMDs in resource families

Supervision of Resource Families

  • Supervises resource parents including training, coaching, developing, and assessing
  • Is accessible/on-call 24 hours per day for resource parent/child emergencies
  • Facilitates adoption placement signings, post placement supervision visits and related reports, addendums to SAFE assessments as required

Documentation

  • Approves resource family homes in a timely manner
  • Develops/submits initial 30-Day Needs and Services Plans (NSP) and updated NSP quarterly reports for assigned children residing in families
  • Develops/submits special incident reports according to current guidelines
  • Develops/submits all documentation as required in a timely manner
  • Completes Case Maintenance forms for all assigned children receiving services and documents all child movement

Community

  • Establishes/maintains effective relationships with the community, related agencies, agency staff and volunteers
  • Develops and maintains effective working relationships with all external personnel/agencies that impact residing children, including public and private groups (e.g. public school staff, pediatricians, camp personnel, YMCA, etc.)
  • Networks to develop/maintain high quality community profile
  • Develops/maintains effective working relationships with all individuals and agencies impacting CB program

Job Qualifications:

  • Master's degree from an accredited university in Social Work or Social Welfare, Marriage, Family, and Child Counseling, Child Psychology, Child Development, Counseling Psychology, or Social Psychology, (if not MSW, ability to receive an exception to adoption regulations).
  • Social Work experience with children and families at a master's level meeting the qualifications in the Interim Licensing Standards.
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of Child Development, Family Systems, Diagnosis and Treatment, Adoption Issues
  • Ability to be highly organized, multi-task and have effective time management skills.
  • Excellent writing skills.
  • Must reside in San Fernando Valley
  • Ability to function in a team-oriented working environment.
  • Ability and experience to work in a multi-cultural environment.
  • Bilingual Spanish/English required.
