Social WorkerChild and Adolescent Outpatient Clinic- Part -Time


As a Social Worker in the Child and Adolescent Outpatient Clinic, you will work closely with an interdisciplinary team to provide evidenced-based individual, family and group psychotherapy and discharge planning to Child and Adolescent patients.


This is a part-time position, including two evenings until 7pm per week to provide services to patients and families that need evening appointments.


Preferred Criteria

  • At least three years of previous psychiatric Social Work experience, preferably 2 years with children and Adolescents

  • Outpatient behavioral health experience with a variety of diagnoses

  • Training in CBT and/or DBT

  • Experience in Group Work

  • Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW)


Required Criteria

  • Master’s Degree in Social Work (MSW)

  • Licensed Masters Social Worker (LMSW) by the State of New York

  • Basic Life Support Certification from the American Heart Association

  • Fieldwork or previous experience in a psychiatric setting

  • Demonstrated integrity and adherence to social work ethics and professional standards

  • Capacity to form a therapeutic relationship with a variety of patients and to maintain a neutral therapeutic stance

  • Knowledge base of bio-psychosocial model, Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders IV (DSM-IV) diagnoses, criteria for treatment of different diagnoses in an acute care setting, behavioral risk factors and of the impact of mental illness upon individual and family functioning

  • Ability to conduct initial evaluations and psychosocial assessments and to establish individualized and measurable treatment goals and discharge planning resources and processes

  • Effective organizational skills to manage clinical, discharge planning and documentation requirements within assigned LOS of inpatient hospitalization

  • Ability to communicate effectively and to collaborate within an interdisciplinary team

  • Demonstrated self-awareness to identify learning needs and capacity to apply supervisory feedback into practice
