THE ORGANIZATION

BELIEVE Circle City (BCC) is an early college and career-focused high school that uses real-world experiences, societal norms and expectations to foster the academic achievement, autonomy, and agency needed to be a contributing member of our evolving society. BCC focuses on identity and leadership development, and explicitly develops our scholars and staff emotionally, socially, and culturally. BCC provides a rigorous curriculum filled with purpose-building experiences in service of creating dynamics for our scholars to flourish in their future pursuits.

VISION FOR THE POSITION

We are hiring a founding school Social Worker that will build our social work program, and be a key stakeholder in how BELIEVE Circle City High School supports scholars and families for years to come. This candidate will create and implement systems to support scholars and families with mental health and wrap around support, and work with the leadership team and teachers to ensure we have a safe environment for students to thrive. This candidate will also manage our outside mental health providers and ultimately our Life Coaches once we implement that system. BELIEVE plans to set the tone in Indianapolis for how social and


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Advocate for scholars and collaborate with the scholar support team: special education case manager, culture team, teachers, and village advisor
  • Serving scholar needs as indicated by IEPs, 504 plans and referrals
  • Use data to identify and address the highest-need areas for support at your school
  • Run one-on-one and small-group interventions as needed
  • Research and refer scholars to community resources
  • Contribute to the staff learning on supporting scholars’ social emotional wellness
  • Identity and provide assistance to scholars in need of the following but not limited to:
  • Uniform, Housing, Food, Vision and Hearing

Minimum Qualifications

  • MSW and Professional Educators License (PEL) with Social Work endorsement
  • Eligibility to work in the United States on a full-time basis


BREAKDOWN of TIME:


Service Delivery 25%

  • Provide core services including: prevention, consultation, intervention, assessment, and counseling. Services include, but are not limited to, conducting observations, collecting data, reviewing scholar records, conferring with teachers and parents, interviewing students, conducting functional behavior assessments, counseling (individual and group), planning behavior interventions, and conducting in-services and professional development. These core services are adapted to the particular needs of each scholar, situation, and setting
  • Deliver crisis response and intervention services to scholars, families and staff, when needed
  • Provide group and individual therapy and classroom support to special education scholars, and general education scholars, as well as monitor the scholars’ responses to the interventions identified


Stakeholder Management 25%

  • Help all stakeholders understand child development and how it affects scholar performance academically and social/emotionally
  • Demonstrate positive, collaborative problem-solving orientation with scholars, parents and guardians, educators, administrators, community members, and colleagues
  • Serve in a consultative role with designated personnel to offer prevention and intervention strategies related to learning and behavioral problems of scholars; and provide consultation on an on-going basis to teachers, parents, and other school personnel to resolve scholars’ learning and behavioral problems
  • Assist in identifying needed community resources for scholars and makes appropriate referrals to resources to facilitate educational and behavioral interventions recommended for scholar success
  • Conduct functional behavior assessments and social history evaluations and communicate the results to all team members in parent-friendly language


School and Community Support 25%

  • Serve as a school liaison to social service agencies and community
  • Monitor and develop school-wide plans to address scholar attendance
  • Participate in mediations, administrative reviews, hearings and due process proceedings, as needed
  • Participate in disciplinary proceedings: expulsions, manifestations, and causation meetings
  • Be available for Open Houses, Purpose Pathway meetings and other events involving parents outside of normal operating hours
  • Believe deeply in the mission and values of BELIEVE and subscribe to BELIEVE’s core values
  • Hold high expectations for each scholar and exhibit positive rapport with all scholars
  • Demonstrate strong knowledge of therapy models
  • Implement the school-wide scholar management policies within classrooms and everywhere on campus
  • Create and fosters a positive learning environment
  • Establish and maintain strong communication lines with all parents


Workflow Documentation 25%

  • Complete special education paperwork and attend multidisciplinary team meetings
  • Respond in a timely manner to state surveys with all of the required information requested in the survey as part of the Medicaid reimbursement process
  • Log progress notes with all of the required information about the scholar’s specific IEP goals, responses to the designated interventions and plan for upcoming sessions, in a timely manner
  • Complete and monitor the pre-referral paperwork as it relates to the social/ emotional functioning of students
  • Complete paperwork for students with 504 plans, as well as monitor the implementation of the accommodations identified in the plans
