Overview
Afloat’s Social Media Coordinator implements the Social Media strategy to engage Afloat’s target audiences for the purpose of achieving business goals, specifically, increasing the number of users, number of app downloads, number of Instagram followers, number of email subscribers, number of retail subscribers, number of gifters, and number of gifts per user.
The Social Media Coordinator works from a deep understanding of:
- Afloat’s optimal user profile;
- Afloat’s target markets of users and stores;
- Afloat’s value proposition for serving optimal users and stores; and
- The critical importance of influencers and Social Media to Afloat’s user acquisition strategy.
How You Will Work with Others
- You will stay closely coordinated with the Content Manager on the marketing calendar
- The Content Manager will provide strategies to support monthly themes
- You will stay up to date with weekly trends and consistently bring these ideas to the table, as well as suggestions for implementing them into current strategy seamlessly
- You will coordinate with Merchandising and Product to understand what gifts are hot and what features need promoting
- You will stay coordinated with the Content Manager and Director of Retail Operations about engaging our retail subscribers on Social Media
- You will work with our product team to stay up to date with any relevant product information and partner store information
What You’ll Do:
- Own day-to-day Social Media management, including assisting Content Manager with
- content themes/ideas/staying up to date with trends, designing content under Content
- Manager’s direction, checking and responding to DM’s with Afloat brand voice,
- interacting with posts from Afloat users and stores, and bringing
- customer/store/partnership requests to the correct member on the team
- Execute all social content and regularly check in with Content Manager to make sure the intended strategic vision is being captured *note- content will be a mix of video-based, photo-based + graphic-based
- Take an active role in building and maintaining relationships online ○Comment on ○ Reply to DM’s partner store content
- Create concepts and assets for our Social Media calendar in advance (timeline TBD) for review with Content Manager
- Weekly check-in with Content Manager with content for following week
- Daily TikTok posts
- Always watching out for trends and able to be spontaneous and jump in on trends as needed
- Gather ideas from team and schedule and create them
- Manage influencer outreach/relationships ○When we send gifts (partnerships OR surprise gifts), track who shares and relay that to Content Manager
- Help grow number of app downloads through Social Media management
- Help complete our growth marketing consumer trifecta: app download, email subscriber, instagram follower from consumers
And:
- Monitor social performance and share back wins and learnings
- Maintain Afloat’s impeccable standards for brand integrity and technical accuracy in all communications, materials, and user and store experience
- Rapidly create, maintain, grow, publish, and distribute content on Afloat’s channels to engage and expand the audiences
How You’ll Do It
- Relentlessly pursue authentic, on-brand content by maintaining close working relationships with the team members on the ground
- Be aware of Afloat events and micro-parties and proactively arranging for City Lead to obtain photos from events where the Social Media Coordinator is not present
- Include appropriate links in Social Media posts to achieve desired user engagement with the call to action
Who You Are

- Exceptional written and verbal communications skills, including great copywriting with a brand friendly personality
- Exceptional content creation skills, including the entire process from filming to editing to posting
- Perpetually plugged into trends and comfortable with Instagram and TikTok, as well as general knowledge of other platforms
- Ability to be scrappy to ideate and create video content for social
- Sharp, intuitive multi-tasker, fast-paced
- Entrepreneurial, flexible, and comfortable with the ambiguity and rapid change inherent in new ventures
- Efficient, extremely detail oriented, accurate

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $55,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year
