MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and one (1) year of professional experience in news reporting, editing, public relations, public information, advertising, marketing, mass communications or journalism.
A master's degree from an accredited college or university with major course of study in communications or English can substitute for the required experience.
Professional or nonprofessional experience as described above can substitute on a year-for-year basis for the required college education
Requires possession of a valid Class E driver license.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Moderate travel, including overnight, international destinations, and sometimes up to two weeks on an emergency program, required.
JOB DUTIES:
General Statement: This is a professional position assigned to assist with helpline activities and to develop and direct written and other forms of communication for public, employee and department use.
Publication and Podcast Development:
- Research, conceptualize, write, and edit information and materials (technical, scientific and creative documents, fact sheets, press releases, presentations, brochures, displays/exhibits, etc.) about division programs and initiatives for distribution to stakeholders including the general public, elected officials, community organizations, the media, and the agriculture industry.
- Research, conceptualize, coordinate, and produce DPI podcast related to division initiatives, programs and subjects
- Write questions for and conduct recorded interviews with subject matter experts in a professional manner
Social Media Management
- Provide coordination, content development and strategy for SOCIAL MEDIA platforms for DPI
- Coordinate weekly posts for each SOCIAL MEDIA platform including the blog
- Monitor SOCIAL MEDIA analytics and conduct research on best practices
- Keep each platform up to date with current policies and procedures from FDACS
Project Management Support
- Provide support on various division programs when needed
- Provide special Events/Conferences planning support
- Serve as event planning liaison for meetings scheduled in the DPI Auditorium
- Serve as secondary photographer and videographer during productions
Other Duties
- Coordinate and produce weekly Leadership Team availability itinerary
- Assist the Director and Public Information Specialist when needed
- Serve as Public Information Officer or Liason on emergency programs, as needed
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Knowledge of the principles and techniques of public information and mass communication.
- Knowledge of SOCIAL MEDIA campaigns including analytics, content creation, and management of content (photos, videos, etc.).
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others, especially the media and industry representatives.
- Ability to conduct interviews with subject matter experts in a professional manner. Must be able to lift 30 lbs.
