The Sleep Technician performs and evaluates overnight polysomnograms under the medical director.
High school diploma or GED plus 6 months of direct patient care experience or 1 year of post-secondary education.
Must currently be enrolled in an accredited educational program leading to a Certification by the American Board of Sleep Medicine (ABSM) as a Registered Sleep Technologist (RST) or equivalent
Typing and computer keyboard skills are essential. Previous experience in customer service or healthcare environments is beneficial. A high degree of clerical accuracy; excellent communication and organizational skills are required. Excellent customer service skills are required.
BLS required must be completed prior to the end of the orientation period
In no less than 24 months duration: Must successfully complete an accredited educational program with an emphasis in polysomnography; or successful completion of a polysomnography program associated with a state-licensed and/or a nationally accredited educational facility; or equivalent experience and documented proficiency at all competencies required of a Polysomnographic Technician and Certification by the American Board of Sleep Medicine (ABSM) as a Registered Sleep Technologist (RST) or equivalent.
