The SKIP Lead Home Visitor will serve as a support for continuous quality improvement in early childhood home visiting services and parent education. Specialized knowledge in evidence-based home visiting programs and Win-Win leadership is needed to fulfill this role, as well as a dedication to staying current with research and best practices. The SKIP Lead Home Visitor will support the Home-Based Specialists and Coordinator of the SKIP program with related duties.
Essential Duties (May include, but not limited to):
  1. Provides support to the Home-based Specialists who oversee SKIP-PAT staff.
  2. Actively promotes and facilitates high-quality home visiting services, playgroups, and socialization programming, including community leadership events in evidence-based home visiting practices.
  3. Assists and supports SKIP staff to fulfill the requirements of the program, including model fidelity assessments, on-going continuous improvement, staff training, etc.
  4. Assists with monitoring program performance data, child outcomes, and quality of home visits (i.e., using the Home Visiting Rating Scale - HOVRS, or other tool/s, etc.)
  5. Recruit new families for the program. Maintains professional relationships with parents, community members, and building administrators.
  6. Provides professional parent instruction and delivery of information to district families implementing the Parent as Teachers™ (PAT) Curriculum to parents and children, prenatal to kindergarten.
  7. Responsible for providing the required number of personal home visits to families and children.
  8. Implements interactive individualized family learning activities and projects to expand child development knowledge.
  9. Demonstrates meaningful play/learning activities for children and increases parent/guardian/child bonding, positive discipline, and communication.
  10. Assesses family needs and provides developmentally appropriate information, guidance, and support to parents.
  11. Maintains accurate records of visits and accurately completes the home visiting forms reflecting the progress of the family and child.
  12. Participates in professional development trainings and activities as required.
  13. Completes and submits forms and required reports in a timely manner.
  14. Communicate regularly with parents regarding the development and other educational concerns of their children. Interaction with parents empowers them to be their child's first and most important teacher by encouraging positive parent/child interaction.
  15. Reports any suspected abuse/neglect immediately.
  16. Consistently models Win-Win leadership.
Early Childhood Duties
  1. Actively participates in the Genesee County Home Visiting Local Leadership Group (LLG) meetings and activities.
  2. Support the SKIP Home Visitors, SKIP Home Base Specialists, and SKIP Program Coordinator.
  3. Participate in Great Start Collaborative efforts to build a system of coordinated and seamless home visiting services for Genesee County.
  4. Serves as a representative to assigned families in a variety of meetings and planning sessions and provides resources and referrals to families as needed.
  5. Follow safety protocol, including using safety devices, as outlined by the program.
  6. Sanitize educational materials after each use.
  7. Submit timesheets in a timely manner using company protocol.
Other Duties:

Qualifications:
Education:
Bachelor's degree with documented relevant experience required. Master's degree or higher in Early Childhood, Child Development, or related education preferred.
Experience:
Minimum of five (5) years' experience working in an early childhood environment and or school setting is required. Experience in staff development and personnel evaluation preferred.
Skills/Other:
Experience in staff development, mentoring, coaching, strategic planning, data integration and analysis, and Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) systems. Knowledge of the Early Childhood Standards of Quality for Infant & Toddlers and Pre-K and formal experience in home visiting programs. Leadership ability and cultural sensitivity to develop relationships between diverse populations and multiple agencies. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Exceptional organizational, leadership and interpersonal skills. Prior experience and knowledge of evidence-based home visiting programs and implementation of Win-Win leadership are highly desired. Prior experience in community-based initiatives, as well as knowledge of the local early childhood community, is also preferred. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, sit, talk, see, and hear. Demonstrate physical stamina necessary for lifting and moving equipment and materials, repetitive stooping, squatting, bending, lifting, walking, kneeling, and reaching while maintaining personal balance and stability. Frequent travel and/or driving to various off-site locations and a valid Michigan Driver's License required. Excellent customer service skills and the ability to maintain a calm, poised, and professional image at all times. Ability to exercise good judgment and make decisions in accordance with board policies and administrative guidelines.
