Position Description
The City of Inver Grove Heights Parks and Recreation is seeking a Warming House Attendant to maintain outdoor rinks/warming houses rules and regulations. The attendant is responsible for maintaining the outdoor rink/warming houses, supervising skaters and the warming house building, operating rink lights, keeping the building clean, reporting accidents, injuries or damage to the property, and perform other duties as necessary. Studying and/or reading is permitted, as long as it doesn't interfere with work duties. Attendants are expected to show up and act appropriately while representing the City and the Parks and Recreation Department.

Supplemental Information
This position is seasonal from mid-December through mid-February (dependent on weather conditions). Shifts include weekday evenings and weekends. Must be able to work approximately 10-15 hours a week (can be flexible).

Essential Job Functions
Prior to the Season
- Attendants will attend a paid training. Warming house attendants will receive keys, name tags, and other supplies needed for the job.
- Attendants will complete necessary paperwork.
- Join GroupMe app for staffing communication.
During the Season
- Check the weather hotline for any possible closures.
- Maintains the rink rules, regulations, and policies, while ensuring the safety and enjoyment of skaters.
- Reports to work on time and in a professional manner. Must be present at all times during shift.
- Develops a positive rapport and provides great customer service with program participants.
- Opens facility, sets out necessary equipment on ice, and greets participants as they enter the building.
- Responsible for keeping the building main area and bathroom clean.
- Responsible for supervising and disciplining as necessary to ensure the rules and regulations are being enforced.
- Manages the warming house shelter building which includes maintaining the cleanliness of the building, operation of rink lights, clean and remove snow/ice from walkway outside of the building.
- Shovel rinks as necessary.
- Follow department emergency procedures, reporting accidents to supervisor, calling 911 if necessary.
- Complete report forms (hourly attendance, accidents, discipline, time sheets).
- Keep supervisors informed on property damage, building needs, accidents, injuries, etc.
- Secure building at the end of the night.
Qualifications
- Must be 16 years of age or older.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to work independently and perform physical duties as needed.
- Ability to make decisions, problem solve and follow work direction.
- Ability to work with the public, co-workers and supervisors professionally, respectfully and courteously.
