Position summary: JMT is seeking a motivated individual who desires increasing responsibilities as a Project Engineer. Successful candidates will be expected to perform engineering and management tasks in the Site/Civil engineering field through the development of a working knowledge of applicable design criteria, regulatory requirements, standards and processes; provide engineering support on multiple design projects, including analyzing and documenting critical design elements; development of site layout/grading, roadway/trail/pedestrian facilities, transit and related facilities, stormwater management facilities, and erosion & sediment control plans and details; navigating projects through the various permitting requirements; coordinating with others to determine requirements and incorporate feedback.
Coordination with clients, contractors, outside consultants, government agencies and firm staff is expected.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
- Plan, schedule, conduct or coordinate detailed phases of the engineering work in a part of a major project or in a total project of moderate scope
- Analyze survey reports, maps, drawings, blueprints, aerial photography and other topographical or geologic data to plan projects
- Perform design computations
- Design projects in accordance with client specifications and guidelines, using design software and drawing tools
- Develop construction cost estimates
- Assist in the preparation of engineering documents for advertisement and construction
- Prepare and compile contract plans, specifications and estimates
- Manage project sub-consultants and in-house support disciplines
- Develop extra work order requests and open-end contract task proposals
- Prepare proposals as required
- Attend meetings with clients
- Coordinate with internal team members to ensure project completion by the defined deadline and established quality
