Position summary:
Project Engineer (PE) is responsible for coordinating the hands-on work needed in commercial construction. PE participates in procurement of commercial work through bidding, coordinates equipment purchasing, works with Project Manager to maintain project schedule and document management on a given project. The PE is also responsible for AutoCAD tasks in addition to creating and maintaining coordination drawings as needed.
Essential functions and responsibilities:
- Read and interpret blueprints and complex mechanical systems for commercial buildings
- Obtain permits from appropriate authorities
- Equipment purchasing, ordering, and tracking of shipments
- Attend jobsite progress meetings
- Communicate directly with clients to keep Elk Air and clients abridged of all developments during construction and project close out
- Supporting Project Manager in keeping all project logs up to date and accurate
- Provision of a consistent package of relevant construction information to the General Superintendent and Foremen to ensure the construction team has all information needed for a successful project.
- Champion a teamwork mentality on the jobsite and in the office
- Responsible to ensure that submittals from vendors/subcontractors are within specification and sent to requisite party for approval and coordinates needed changes back to vendor/subcontractor when necessary.
- Assists Project Manager with document management throughout construction (contracts, requests for information, requests for change orders, monthly invoicing, changes to scope of work, project close out documentation)
- Provide value to clients through cost savings insight and best practices
- Offer design/build capability to clients, either direct through building owners or through general contractors
- Report directly to Ownership/Executive Team to keep ownership abreast of major developments/needs/milestones
- Creating and distributing project closeout material to project manager once project is complete.
- Create and maintain coordination plans/drawings, shop drawings, and design/build projects utilizing AutoCAD software.
- The #1 responsibility of the Project Engineer is to assist the Project Manager with all duties to ensure that a given project is completed efficiently, on time, and within budget.

Physical demands and work environment: .
- Ability to sit, stand and walk around for long periods at a time.
- Work indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions

Education/Certification(s)/License(s) Preferred:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or other technical field
- Experience with Construction and/or Commercial HVAC work
Experience/Other Preferred:
- Proficient with reading and understanding blueprints
- Proficient in MS Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, etc.)
- Proficient with drafting software such as AutoCAD MEP

Pay: $55,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
