Job Description
This position is in support of the NASA Ames Research Center (ARC), whose primary focus is on research and development (R&D) including fundamental scientific research, concept development, prototype testing, and new technology creation. ARC performs R&D in support of NASA missions in collaboration with other NASA centers, academia, other federal organizations, not-for-profit organizations, and industry partners. Successful candidates will support success of NASA and ARC mission and goals in aeronautics, science, space technology, and human exploration in partnership with leading edge technical and research expertise from both student and faculty researchers.
This work is directly supporting NASA Academic Mission Services-2 (NAMS-2) which will provide the Aeronautics Directorate and the Exploration Technology Directorate of NASA ARC with capabilities to fulfill mission requirements from fundamental R&D through field-test deployments and operational missions. NAMS-2 includes a broad scope of evolving research, including the development of new and emerging capabilities and technologies. Projects include scientific research associated with air traffic management, advanced technology, nanoelectronics, and prototype software. This team will help meet aeronautics and technology mission objectives, particularly the improvement of aircraft and airspace safety as well as the transition of advanced aeronautics technologies into future air vehicles.
JOB DESCRIPTION
•Sets policies and makes decisions guiding productivity, quality, and cost efficiency of plant operations.
•Directs, manages, and optimizes the overall operations of one or more plants or other production facilities.
•Leads the development and deployment of manufacturing practices focused on quality and continuous improvement.
•Establish systems to collect metrics, analyze productivity and set performance targets that will meet revenue and cost goals.
•In addition, ensures robust safety and security procedures and training are in place and that operations are in compliance with all required regulations.
•Leads any labor relations activities involving the plant.
•Directs level support functions including finance, engineering, materials, quality assurance, and human resources to ensure alignment with overall operations.
REQUIREMENTS
•Requires a bachelor's degree.
•Manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs.
•Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets.
•Has full authority for personnel actions. Minimum requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor.
•1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required.
•Extensive knowledge of the function and department processes
