Salary: Up to $300 per week.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Ensure that each child is signed into and out of the program site properly.
  • Ensure only authorized individuals pick-up the child at the end of the program day.
  • Help organize, distribute, and record snacks during snack time.
  • Help Site Supervisor with student recruitment, as needed.
  • Ensure that drinking water is available to the children at all times (especially during physical education activities) to protect against dehydration.
  • Monitor and document any safety hazards (such as broken equipment or furniture, toxic or caustic chemicals or cleaning agents) of both indoor and outdoor space.
  • Monitor the cleanliness of program used spaces, including sanitation stations, cafeteria, restrooms, etc.
  • Re-stock cleaning products and report products needing to be reordered.
  • In case of emergency, accident, or injury, consult the site’s Master Registration List for student information on allergies, medical and doctor information, parent notification and authorized student pick-up.
  • Help complete incident/injury reports according to program policy.
  • Safeguard the confidentiality of student or family information on file, especially medical conditions, and student academic performance.
  • As assigned by the Site Supervisor, open/close the program facility which could require an adjustment in work hours.
  • Create a positive, enriching environment for students and peers.
  • Help with administration of social skills pretest and post-test.
  • Follow the daily activity schedule set by the Site Supervisor.
  • Model and reinforce hand washing, especially before meals/snacks and after using the bathroom.
  • Help with parent engagement and contact follow-ups.
  • Attend required staff training (these paid trainings may occur outside of program hours).
  • Sign-in/sign-out on the weekly log at the program site.
  • Facilitate mandated curricula as stated in BSI contract agreement.
  • Adhere to agency-wide training requirements (locally and nationally), to ensure program and curriculum fidelity.
  • Communicate and advocate effectively for positive and healthy relationship building among participants. 
  • Commute in a timely manner to assigned workshops, events, or any other scheduled activities. 
  • Responsibly represent the agency with a high standard of professionalism.
  • Complete any required training before the deadline (as provided by the onboarding process or your direct supervisor upon hire).
  • Other duties as assigned.


Requirements for the role on site:

  • Always wear the required identification badge and uniform shirt during program hours (on-site and off-site).
  • Have a charged cell phone or program walkie-talkie available for immediate contact in case of emergency.


Required Qualifications: 

  • High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED).
  • English & Spanish language is required (can read, write and speak fluently).
  • Clearance on MDCPS/BCPS Level II Background screening.
  • Reliable personal transportation and personal cellphone.
  • Basic Computer skills.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Two years of work experience with middle school youth preferred.
  • Training in how to accommodate children with special needs.
  • Ability to work with a diverse team and multi-racial demographics.
  • Computer, Design and Administration skills.

Physical Demands:

This position is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, speak, and hear. The Site Instructor must occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable otherwise qualified individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
